In these time of high gas price and the reality that our workers (employees) are finding it harder and harder to make it to payday, I am considering going to a weekly payday(Friday). I am just faced daily with request for advances and so on. This was a suggestion to me from the outside that makes a lot of since. Any ideas?:confused: :confused:
 
My Mom was a teacher for 32yrs. Got paid once a month and never ran out of money. Paying more frequently won't stop people from spending irrationally. It will just encourage them to stick their hands out more often. Could be wrong, but that's my opinion.
 
I am not a socal worker-I just want completed jobs that comply with standards. My employee skill set are very limited-feeding them earned money seems to have a positive effect to me if nothing else.
 
I pay weekly, and we still have the occasional "can I get an advance?"

It will cost you more, I do weekly. I used to do bi monthly.

My commissions are paid once a month.

David, bankofamericas payroll is a flat fee i believe. i used them years back.

I just dont do the advance anymore. do it once and they ask all the time. Emergencys are different, but the cables being turned off is not my problem.

Have you just thought about a raise. My guys know i raised my prices effective jan 2008. I gave them all a raise, This month bonus will also be good for some. I have guys really producing, My techs even brought home a few jobs last month.
 
I pay bi weekly, less of a chance they will go out and get drunk when they don't have the money, sad but true. I actually have very good crews, but a couple of them are in their early 20's and still like to party and yes can miss a Saturday or two here and there.

I give raises once a year in June, but this year to show my appreciation of them doing real good work, I gave the raises in March & April. I also just got health insurance for my two top guys

Its cheaper paying bi weekly and safer. I do lend a couple guys money, its a pain, but I do it anyway

wait until gas prices are $10 a gallon
 
I already pay weekly. Every Friday. I was surprised when several of my guys thanked me for paying weekly, and actually paying them at all. They have told me horror stories about companies that don't pay them until they get paid by the customer or when they have extra money.
 
I took a poll on what my employees wanted and they all said “every other day”. Well we are going to start June 1, 08-it should work just fine-thanks guy for the help. This is what makes this bb the go to item bb for information & a little BS:) :)
