i was on a mates boat over the weekend and it is red and white.......when the red paint is wet it looks great but when it drys it has a milky color over it....can anybody suggest a way of cleaning this off and getting a high gloss back on the hull.

cheers paul.

thanks ron

thanks for that ron...i will have a look and see what it says........i have looked awhile ago but i am not interested at the moment with a franchise.... and there are so many out there , i would like to find one that works and takes the shadow away as well.

has anyone else any suggestions over this paint problem please ??.

cheers paul.

Paul,
I just joined so this reply may be of no use. We have been successful with two methods for gum removal. The first is using a hot water washer putting out a consistent temperature of about 210*f at about 1200 psi and a rotary floor tool. The second is with an acid based chemical. The shadow comes from sugar residue in the concrete(i'm assumining this surface). e-mail me if your interested in more details.

Not sure if Paul still wants/needs a reply regarding the "paint" problem on the boat, but here it is...I am assuming the boat is fiberglass and the "milky color" on the red is actually oxidation built up on the gel. This has to be buffed out with an oxidation remover, preferably using a variable speed buffer. Once it is buffed out, apply a teflon based wax.

I have the EXACT same situation on my boat and it requires buffing once a year and cnstant waxing throughout the summer. The oxidation is caused by the sun exposure.
