Paid Bulletin Board?????

I have a couple questions, There a thread on PWN that I cannot answer too. I would like to ask the members here a couple questions.

If you charged for the BBS would you close the entire BBS or part?


What would be the content? Certainly it would include more than you currently have now.

What would you be willing to pay for..

Contracts and other forms used in the industry?

Software uploads and other materials?


Please feel free and give ideas of what a pay BBS would offer.

Maybe sales leads?

WHAT would get you to pay for a site like any of these BBS operate now?

Health bennys?

Co-op buying power, discounts on merchandise?

Let’s put our heads together, could this bbs be better if it were private?

What I am worried about is that by making people pay that you will lose a lot of guys who are very helpful. I on the other hand would pay for three sites. This one, Power Wash Network, and The Cleaner Network. I know you asked me about the PWNA site but it just don't get enough hits to make it worth paying for. I have not contributed to any of these boards yet but I plan to the first chance I get in the spring. I know that Steve probably doesn't need to charge for his board because they sell their own products and by keeping their site free it attracts potential customers. I realize how important these boards are. I try and give as much info to people as I can. Sometimes I give some bad advise and people correct me. I would much rather have that then for people to let me keep going in the wrong direction. I try and respond to most newbie questions so alot of the more experienced guys can answer more complicated questions from guys who have been around a couple years. I just hope that some of the old cats keep an eye on what I say to make sure I am giving out good advise. I understand that after you have answered 1000 posts that it may get tiring answering peoples questions about " what equipment do I need to get started in this biz" That is where I come in to try and help out with the easy questions. I am just afraid that we will lose too many guys. I am willing to kick in to try and keep these sites free. I have been on these sites from the beginning of me going full time. You guys have basically raised me. I know this sounds crazy but it is as if you all are my family. I know that if it was private there would be more open talk about secrets but then you would shut out a lot of people trying to start out. I know that personally if I try and go to a site and they want money I will just leave. Why would I want to pay for something I am not sure all what it involves? Here is an idea. What if you left the site free but had a special section for guys willing to pay a fee for a private part of the board? Would that work? Because when you talk about making it a private board it really isn't private it is only open to those who will pay. Let me rephrase that. Alot of times when I think of private I think of something you can't buy your way into. It has to be earned. Does that make sense? I know most people starting out can't afford to pay. The newbies on this board is what makes it special. I ike it when someone new asks a question and you give an answer thinking you are right because you have been doing it for years and then someone else comes along and says I do it this way. Point being, you can teach an old dog new tricks. You can't have light without dark, can't have good without evil, can't have the old cats without newbies. You need the diversification.

New guy here and just want to say thanks for all the FREE advise.

I am not saying that this kind of board your proposing would not be something I would pay for if there was something in it for me.

It would have to offer me benefits that outweigh the cost and more info then I could receive on another free site, such as: possible leads in my area, discounts for products, or guaranteed question to be answered (not that this isn't free).

Intro discount cost would be a good thing to show pw contractor's what it's about and what it has to offer.

This is just my opinion but I think you’re on to something.

How about taking a vote on this.

oK, i I was not talking about this site. I was talking about pay sites that doesnt exist. I was asking what the opinions and ideas would be.

some good points, of course the site would need to offer more benys than what we have now.

Its might only include so many guys from certain regions. (just a thought)

I dont know and i'm looking for more contribution to this question.
