Ordering Chemicals from Delco

I have ordered equipment from Delco before and thought there operation was quite adequate. No complaints whatsoever. As far as chemicals go though I never ordered from them untill recently.

The other day I ordered a certain chemical from them that is used for Masonry cleaning. I have a tremendous brick house that needs to be cleaned in a couple of weeks and I will test a couple of chemicals to see which one works the best. One of the chemicals I will try is R202 which Delco sells.

When I called Delco and spoke to the sales rep. I had some questions that I wanted to ask about this chemical. She then connected me to Robert Hinderliter(The head honcho at Delco).

I asked him the questions that I had and he answered them. He didn't say who he was but I recognized his voice because I have the tapes that he sells about powerwashing.(I bought them years ago)

Anyway to make along story shorter, I said are you Robert H. and he said yes. We talked briefly about the canceled PWNA convention and he seemed very positive about the future of these conventions.

I was impressed that someone of his position in our field would take a regular phone call and even put in my small order. It's nice to no that he would do that. We all know that he is a giant in this industry whether you like him or not.

I wonder if Bill Gates would answer an easy question from a "John Doe" if you called Microsoft....I think not!!! Enough said.

If Delco was the size of Microsoft Robert would not answer the phone. Have a look at Envirospec and compare price and service. The number is 1800-346-4876.

I have talked to other big companies owners and presidents and it never has been a problem getting to talk to them. Big deal. Heck I wrote to John Wayne when I was young and got a authograph picture from him. Nothing against Robert.

I order a lot of chemicals form Delco. I hae used them for years and have always gotten decent service from them, on both equipment and chemicals. I have also spoken with Robert and Larry on numerous occasions.
In the past I have used Envirospec as well. I have tried to use their customer service, but I was far from impressed with that part of their business. They seem to have more breakdowns than Delco has had for me, in my opinion. I even comparison shopped Envirospec and Delco on the last machine that I bought. I ended up buying from Delco because of warranty issues. It put me off when Envirospec wanted me to sign a release that releases them from ANY warranty obligations. I got a call from John Allison on that one. I consider Robert a more pleasant person.
As for Technical help, I still consider Delco superior to Envirospec. I have Envirospec basic questions and they always refer me to Pete in Maine, which entails another call, etc. When he hasn't been able to answer the question, I call Delco and they have always had a quick answer.
I consider Envirospec to be the Home Depot of pressure washing. The prices are cheap, the shipping is expensive, and you have to hunt to find the right guy with the answers. They might have it, but you have to get the right guy. Delco is more like a professinal building center. Most anyone can help you and the knowledge base is pretty much universal.
Of course, this is just my opinion and your experiences may be different.

All the time I have spent on boards I have not seen members actually talk about the service openly. This is healthy and great information about your personal experiences. Maybe these companies will tune in and learn from their mistakes.

I order mostly local and have some great company I deal with. I have had a host of bad ones. I have a great mechanic named Eric. I only know him by his first name and I love his work. Universal equipment is his business name.

I also have a local powerwashing place which I deal with the most and am friendly with the past owner and the current owners plus the mechanics in the shop. This is were I bought my Landa and Mi-t-m PW's plus wands chemicals etc. There is nothing like dealing with people in person. This place is excellent.

I've also dealt with Envirospec and still do so along with Delco. Envirospec in general has the cheapest prices but I won't order a PW from them. They are great for gauges and the like. Delco I have bought equipment from and they are very informative.

But the place I go to which is local is the best for me. But I have to say once again for Robert H. to take such a basic call from me and I mean basic I have to respect that.

Most companies that I know of that are the size and magnitude of Roberts there isn't to many of them that would do what he did.
I can't bad mouth that.

Heck I've ordered I think from everyone, hadn't run into no problems with none of them yet.Cann't really remeber if I've talked to Robert or Larry but have ordered soaps from them for several years.Joe was the first one I talked to and I couldn't have ask for any better person to talk to then Joe,he sold me mine first PW and told me the truth about alot of things.I talk to Rusty mostly now or one of the girls.I don't call nomore to ask Q'tions but Joe was a great help when I started ordering from Delco as to now to do this or that.I have always goten good service from most places, even have a few that call to check on me if I hadn't ordered nothing in awhile.
Pete from AlloTec is a great guy and has fair prices,he has some good soaps and waxes also,Wholesale Parts,K O to just name a few that are good.

I have to support Delco here, their service is great, nice people and never cared to take time out to answer my questions.Envirospec is cheaper but to get to talk to the right person is a problem.Last couple of times they really pissed me off,i called in order and a women picked up the phone. She didnt know anything .

Over the last several years, I observed very few negative comments about Delco, and have heard enough negative comments about all aspects of Envirospec, right down to Mr. Allison himself.......that I have never even picked up a phone to call them for anything.

Not to say that I would never give them a chance, because you have to decide some things for yourself..........but, I have used Delco with no problems.

I buy most of my stuff from another distributor located in New Jersey that I met at a PWNA seminar a couple years ago..... http://www.edidistributors.com/

Have never dealt with Envirospec, just browsed there catalogs.
As afr as Delco, I did like them until this last macjine I got from them started having several problems and I got the cold shoulder from them once or twice too often.
Now I am stuck with a machine I paid too much for to be 11 months old and to have only 102 hours on it. Can't get service from them and can't keep the pile of scrap running correctly.

Had to buy another new machine (locally) to replace the new machine I had bought from Delco after just 2 months.

And yes, I've even talked to Larry Hinckley with no luck.

It's a long story that still makes me mad!
