Hmm, now I know one of the reasons I dont often attend round tables. I lead a boring life and come home to my wife. '
In reality, I avoided joining the PWNA for years. I finally caved last year, sent my money, because I was assured that I would be able to help write any BMP's on the environmental committee, and be an influence. I even was told I could lead the committee if I wanted to. I turned it down. Pretty soon, I found out that some environmental stuff had been rolled out in NC, I think it was, around October. I knew ABSOLUTELY nothing about it. I thought that since I was on the committee, I would have been in a position to know. I guess I was wrong. At that time we had two conference calls, total. One was May 23rd, and the other was June 9th. Nearly a year later I received an email that there was going to be a conference call about the environmental committee. That was when they first rolled out the model BMP's. I did not even recall people being selected to write the BMP's.
When I was on that conference call, one of the participants actually asked me who I was, and why I was on the call. I thought that was odd, at best, since I was supposed to be on the committee. It was, and is obvious that someone has an agenda to me, especially since they wanted me on the so called committee for my expertise, but decided to not use me. Honestly, I feel like I was used, again, just because people know who I am. In fact, they did the exact same thing that the UAMCC did with the transition team. They asked me to be on the committee, but did not give me any assignments, (In fact, did not really include me on any discussions, with the PWNA) and then came up with their own agenda.
Lesson learned twice.
