Northern house washing

Just wondering, up in the northern states in suburban areas how often do houses get washed usaully?

I know when I was growing up in Mass I never really saw hardly any houses being washed. when I went back a couple years ago I noticed that many of the houses in my old neighborhood needed cleaning

Do you get many annual houses washes or is it every 2, 3, 5 whatever years apart?

Also what are you usually cleaning off these houses, mostly in SC its mold, mildew, webs etc. Up north is there a lot of mold or is it many other types of pollutants?

Jeff, some annual but not that many. We end up alternating housewashing with deck work so we are at a customer's house every year. Mold grows back fairly quickly but I prefer charging more, putting on a polymer to slow down regrowth and servicing every two years.
 
I've had customers inquire about quarterly house wash maintenance plans.More for bug nests,spider crap,webs,dirt dobbers,and window wash/rinse.After testing it out I decided it wasn't worth pursuing.The time invested in a maintenance wash was almost equal to an entire annual house wash. The numbers didn't add up unless they wanted to pay a minimum price not within the realm of a quarterly service type price. I've had a drum of house wax sitting around for months. I'll have to field test it to see if the "mold retardant" ingredients are legit before I put my name on it.Looks great on cars.

That's interesting that you say that (mold loves wax). I've used Steve's wet wax for 3 seasons now and the mold seems to be kept at bay for a good 2 years, when before the HOer was having mold problems every season. What field results did you experience with your testing? Just curious, thanks.
 
I've never tried Steve's wax, Barr. I played with two versions of a wet wax I got locally from a local car wash and boat yard. Those are what I used in '04. The problem is I think more of where I am located. I am about 25-30 minutes from metro Philly in one direction and the airport in the other. We have more carbon emissions from planes, trains and cars that stick to the wax. The pollen then sticks to that. Then the whole thing becomes a feast for wandering spores.

Jeff, I wash about 70 percent of my houses annually.. If I charge say 350.00 this year, I will lock them in at a 10 percent discount 335.00 if they agree to washes annually for the next 2 years
