I wondered if that was a typo Scott, we all know big hose sprays betterSorry mine was supposed to say 3/4" not 1/2"

Naw, just a bunch of roof guys talking shopYippy...........hose wars..........again.
I have my battery and delavan inside this box now...just another option in place of the orange boat box. Plus I feel more comfortable w/the added air circulation of the bigger box. 5/8 here
Warning, SHC and Batterys do not mix
I was cleaning a roof about 11 years ago.
A junk Nissan truck was in d way.
Guy said dont worry about it.
Mix dripped on the hood, and it went BOOM
The Mix hit the leaking old battery, acid and mix came together, perhaps it sparked ?
The hood had a 1 foot rise in it from where battery exploded
Be warned, unless you LIKE explosions
Yes, that issue of hose size vs performance was put to bed long ago MikeGood gracious! That's gotta suck!
Here's a great thread Tim posted a while back. No arguing with physics or proof.

CoolAlthough it is a point to consider, and anything is a possibility. I have the battery mounted in a sealed battery box inside the storage bin. Plus I have Eight 1inch holes drilled in bottom of box just in case a hose does leak or blow off. I also have 6 vent holes drilled in upper part of box (inside handle wells) for added ventilation if I forget to open lid when working.
The Bandit has enough pressure to overcome small hose, the 12 volt Delavan dont.I like the 1/2 for ease of use, and 200' of the 1/2 pliovic just fits on my reel!
A guy starting out shouldn't have trouble with a smaller hose. As their technique gets better, jumping up to the larger hose with higher flow would seem a logical move.
I may bump up to 5/8 next season and do a side by side comparison, time is money.
Right now I just have 'familiarity inertia'. I have, use, and like the 1/2. Distance isn't much of an issue, to shoot far we use the Bandit instead of the Dele.
My favorite thing is trying something different that blows me away. I'm a ds convert this year too, man what was I thinking before.
LOL,. for SOME reason, I get YOU and JC mixed upWho's JC?
JESUS wasn't IRISH DohertyMe and Jesus Christ? Wow that's a pretty big mix up!!
Yeah, it is one of the better ones I have seen, but no idea where it came from ?That's not a bad link, any idea where it's from?
That's the type of thing customers need to see. I like the basic matter of fact tone.
I hate reading the; energy bills going up, roof being eaten away, causes allergy problems type scare tactics. Intellegent customers see right through that stuff.

Hii TimThere is no arguing about flow differences from diameter to diameter. Your pumps capibilities and hose length will dictate what diameter you need to get your desired flow and pressure. I prefer to use 1/2" when I can due to its weight and pliability. We run 300' lines, our soap pump doesn't build much pressure so we run the first 150' with 5/8" and then 150' of 1/2" with good results. Our rinse pump, 300' of 1/2" because it's strong enough to get away with it.
