No more Stripes when surface cleaning!!!

Wrong Hmmmmm...............? Sounds like a secret.............Ok.

If tips wear out how often should they be changed? If there is not any damage visible what is a good rule to follow for changing them out? How many hours of use?

Ron, I believe is talking about the brindle look (moving to fast and getting the swirls) not the solid overlap look.

The solid is where the jet repeats its path. The solid line.
Ryan has a better example of this on TGS, but theit DB is having issues this A.M.

Yes, I had problems at that board with all the forums not working last night, this morning, tonight. I do not know what the deal is. O Well. Plenty of Quality BBS's out here.

That is what I call "Swirls", when you move too fast.

Every single spraying systems nozzle I have ever put on without exception sprayed unevenly, they're un-usable to me  Am I the only one? has someone else experienced the same.

I use them or the Generals and never had a problem with either brand.

Ron, I recognize the right one (Spraying Systems) but the other one does not look like Generals that I use. Who makes the one on the left? How does it last compared to the other brands? Thanks.

I always thought that the striping came from when you overlap in the passes so the strip gets cleaned twice thus leaving the stripes.

yes thats true when the machine is not cleaning correct to begin with. absolutly

I have not, Your saying they all spray un even?

Ron,
Are you saying that on a first time account that has not been cleaned in who knows how long, that you get no stripes from your surface cleaner at all, because it is running correctly? That is how I read it, so please clarify.

I prefer the General pump nozzles, they hold up better to me.

Hey you could call me... 5 degree tip and my whitco with hot water ... I can peel paint like a can of paint stripper.... I got a couple of tricks .. Make a homemade water broom with 2 nozzles and weld a blunt scraper to just hit the ground and roll away.. I built this orginally to roll up and down duct work but it didnt work good .. I will get some photos if I can find my camera cable.. Its a piecp of 1/2 pipe with 2 nozzles and a flat scraper welded to it , then weld some casters on it and scrape and roll... also if it is latex use goof off.....

Do you have any other suggestions on the overlap stripes. I have got 2 surface cleaners and both of them are doing it. They both have new nozzles in them. I even tried larger nozzles for less pressure and more flow, but that still didn't solve the problem. I talked to a few people in the area and they say it just happens. Any ideas?

I will throw one more idea at you for those stripes. In some areas striping occurs simply because the operator is not using a cleaner. Without a cleaner, two things happen.

First, soil (and concrete) you break loose just falls back down to the surface. That is why most guys who don't use a cleaning chem have to rinse. A good cleaning chem adds "lift" to the dirt so it can flow away with the wash water. (No "nothing down the drain" comments, please.) Second, without a cleaner you are cleaning everything with abrasion (3500 PSI is powerful sandpaper, partner). In this situation, when you overlap you are sanding off a portion of the surface twice.

I'm not trying to sell anyone cleaners with this post. I am just relaying my experience. When I added a cleaner to my flatwork jobs, they went faster and I didn't have to rinse. I know your surface spinners will move faster - for sure. Try it, and you may find that the stripes don't happen. Let us all know how it turns out.

How many GPM is your machine? What size surface cleaners?

The cleaner I used is very light. It dilutes 16:1, so a 5 gallon jug covers 10 driveways (12000 sq ft). I never rinsed. All I ever did (because of all the mold in this humid area) was to mist bleach over the surface when I was done washing. Didn't rinse that either.

I mean light, light mist. Never used much more than a gallon on a drive, so you can tell it was a light mist.
