Newest Rig Built

After you build a rig or two and work off of them you start to get a good handle on what should go where. I finally built my dream rig for a single man last weekend. 12ft tandem, 300ft hose, 225 ft fill hose, 65 gallon buffer tank, 35 gallon chemical tank, 5.5 skid, and plenty of room left for add-ons.

How long did it take after you built your rigs to figure out you should have changed it up and redesigned it a bit differently. Personally my other rigs have been moved around so many times that I don't have to drill new holes anymore because more than likely the machine, or whatever has already been in that spot.

Any advice or things you would have done differently on this rig?

I like it. I think 65 gal is a good size for the float tank, good for 99% of jobs here. I dont trust the filter on the suction line for the pump, I like it before the tank.

Thats exactly right, every trailer I built got easier and easier to work from.

I thought about that alot but if i were to do that and put the skid in the middle then I would loose all the room on the front of the trailer and still have to reach over the rails to get to the tanks. I plan on having a 50 gallon and 30 gallon metal fuel tank made to go on each side of the skid for its fueling, I hate driving 30 minutes to fill up a tech and its pointless to have them drive 30 minutes to my house to get the trailer. The bad part of living out in the country, however pops house is right in the middle of everything and were currently being allowed to use his drive-way for storage during the day

Wand Holders?

What does everyone do for a wand holder. I used to use 3" pipe that was affixed to the cage tank however thats not really an option anymore as the tanks are all round. I have seen someone locally that had a wand holder made that was horizontal and welded to the side of the trailer, then it had a piece of metal welded for the handles to fit into and then a bar that would fold down over the wands so he could lock them up onto the trailer and keep from the thieving a-holes around here

Your trailer looks good. Nice and clean. Thats a good idea on the wand holders. If you have a toll box, I would put them in there.

Since you do alot of flatwork, why dont you run 8gpm machines?

been there done that got the scrap parts and tanks :yikes:

As Ron and other elude to on here 5.5 is the way to go for having technicians working. There is less liability without them hauling massive amounts of water around town, most every property will output 6 gallons per minute, and things seem to not wear out as fast with a 5.5 in my experience.

I have 2 other 8gpm machines as well but wanted to setup a tech with a easy system to handle, something that won't wear him out every night and give him something reliable to work with.

Nigel, I will get you one of it over a drain cover. I have the Talon 2 swivel on it at this time. It spins fairly fast but will compare it to the whisper wash swivel on a big guy for you at the same time. I may even try to get the classic in that video for everyone to see.

After a week couple of weeks of this rig being out on the road, I have added 2 35 gallon fuel tanks now this weekend and well see how it it after that. Just a hassle to have to go fill it up nightly
