New Surface Cleaner

Just got my new surface cleaner,,,,,Whisper Wash Big Guy. Thanks Russ for the recommendation and letting me test drive yours to see if I liked it.
This is the only way to go for flat work. Easy to use, rolls great, can operate with one hand......thinking of installing a drink holder on the handle.
High recommend this one to anyone thinking of an upgrade from your old one.

That is a good idea, installing a drink holder. Cool!

Has anyone else noticed if you remove the 1/4 hose and run a 3/8 hose on these it seems to clean better.

On my big guys, i have removed the plug and coupler, installed a 90* at the swivel then run a 4ft 3/8 hose up the left side of the big guy instead of the right. This will allow you to pull the hose with your hand and have a little slack between the surface cleaner and your hand. Makes it even easier to move the big guy. I leave the guns installed because it makes a good handle for one handed operation when pulling on the hose. I don't use the gun because it too is restrictive.

Anyone else do similar upgrades to them

I have the 90 elbow on top of the swivel and plug/coupler so if the swivel goes out I can take the hose off quick and have that swivel out of there in no time to swap out.

I still have the gun there with the original hose. I actually like the pressure hose on the right side, just used to it like that on all my surface cleaners.

I will eventually take the gun out (have a tennis ball holding it open) and rig up something there with a coupler so no gun there at all but have not got around to it yet.

I have a different brand of SC but it had the 1/4 hose and when I went to change out the nozzles found out it had 1/8" tips. I was having problems with it and after seeing the tips suspected that the hose and tips were restricting water flow. I have a BE with the larger hose and tips. Switched back to that and it seems to be doing a better job. I bought the other SC to use with my reclaim equipment.

They are Soooooo Purdy when they are new! Been trying to load a pic of mine when I first got it but NOW I CAN"T LOAD PICS!!! Are we not allowed to put pics up anymore?

Chris, you ever think about rigging it up to use the ball valve instead? That would help to eliminate the gun.

I zippy tie all my trigger handles and just use my ball valves. NO WAY I'm holding triggers for a whole complete job. I tried the tennis ball thing a long time ago but the ball would fall out from time to time.

I love this SC, Only thing i dont like is that it burns O-rings like 2 times per job(PITA)
2-4 hr jobs. but I will try the 90* at the swivel with the 3/8" hose upgrade and will buy a ball valve and replace the gun. I also installed a PVC pipe on the side to hold my wand for when i have to rinse. one other thing i have noticed is that when i clean a realy dirty area on crete it leaves streaks of less clean crete. i have to go over it like 5 times slow for it to get all the same color cant stand seeing those stripes. any suggestions? (have 2545 tips on it)

Ok! Fiigured out that the first pic you put in won't load but the ones after that will. Anyone else having this problem?

Anyway like I was saying,,They sure are Purdy when they are new! :)

I use a $2.00 cable clamp, works great.

Larry, that's why you drill a hole through the tennis ball, insert rope all the way through, tie knot on bottom end of ball, and then tie other end of rope to SC. Fool-proof. If it falls out, it takes all of 2 seconds to put it back in. No more chasing balls when they fall out!

It wasn't the problem of chasing the ball it was just the problem that it fell out in the first place.

I've tried the cable clamps too but they always crack and break on me. My son works on and installs computers/servers and gave me a bunch. I don't know, I guess I just like the zippy Ties. Got them on EVERY Gun/Trigger.

On the end of my hoses are ball valves with plugs. On the wands and surface cleaners are couplers so I just close the ball valve and disconnect from the wand and connect to the surface cleaner or just use the ball valve to rinse.

On the surface cleaners, I have a 90 elbow then the coupler so the hose is hanging down right there and no stress on the fittings by having the hose stick straight out from the back, I found that it helps with chewing up the o-rings.

Between the ball valve and hose is the brass swivel, that makes a big difference on the hose not tangling up so much and that also helps with chewing up the o-rings.

I change out 0-rings before doing a job where it will be mostly very hot water but if not doing hot water for many hours I will just keep whatever o-ring in there, my 0-rings last me weeks to months.

That is what I have on all the guns on the wands and surface cleaners, hated chasing the tennis ball when it fell out so I use a scratch-awl or ice pick and stab a hole through the tennis ball and put a string through it and tie it to the gun so when it falls, you don't lose it. Been doing it that way since 2004, learned that from a guy in the Dallas area at the PWNA convention up there in 2004.

When I removed the trigger handle (suttner big handle) and replaced it with a ball valve I could absolutely tell an increase in flow at the surface cleaner. If the gun is not used I would definitely eliminate it. 3/8 has got to be an improvement from 1/4 hose at least above 6 gpm.

I put the big hose on and got rid of the trigger altogether, then just work it with the ball valve.
