New rig almost complete

Hello guys,

Well I just wanted to show my new rig almost complete, nothing fancy but I like it. Still missing garden hose reel and I will be able to fit a 65 gallon buffer tank in bottom deck, but don't know If I really need it since my machine is a 4.6 gpm and we get about 8 gpm out of the city water. I have a couple of questions i need help figuring out my draw rate of my GP hi-draw injector, i did the 1 min test with both the 0 and 25 nozzle (low pressure) and both draw about 1/2 a gallon in 60 sec 150ft hose (did separate test for each nozzle) I also did the same test with same nozzles to see gpm out of machine and got about the 4.5 in a bucket in a 60 sec what is my ratio? Also when I hook up my SC I don't get good revolutions out of it is turning slow I just got it in and tested it with the nozzles that came with which are 25020 i ran it with out the DS injector since that would restrict my flow. Are this the right nozzles for a 4.6 gpm machine? The SC is a whirl-a-way 20". Thanks in advance.

Here is what I have (top of my head might forget something):

13HP Predator Engine
GP EZ3045G (4.6gpm 3000psi)
Pulsar 3KHP unloader valve with EZ start
GP High Draw Injector kit from (Pressure Tek)
20" BE Whirl-A-way surface cleaner
150' Goodyear non-marking HP hose
150' HP hose reel
Suttner ST-2315 Gun
36" & 48" SS lances
4 nozzle J-rod
HP valve
5000 psi Test Gauge
*X-Jet M5 from my home use PW (can I get a new orifice for it to match my new machine? this one is for a 2-3gpm)

I also score the trailer in Craigslist the way it is for $150, so not bad!!!!!

Im not sure how you guys have 8gpm, my neck of the woods runs about 5 at the spigot and then 4gpm after hooking up 100ft of hose. That being said i would not count on every house having 8gpm so a buffer tank is need. Problem is that most direct drives wont pull water from a tank(not sure about yours). So if your cant pull from a tank a buffer is pointless.
The tips that come with a lot SC are unusable and put out too much pressure.. Right now you are using full 3000 psi and are bypassing .6 gallons. You need larger tips to lower the pressure and get full flow.. Either way the surface cleaner is still a little big for your machine, its 4 in for every gpm your machine makes. Still is should be able to spin the bar pretty good even under powered a little, its possible it could be a bad swivel from the start.

Thank you Donte for always helping me out, about the gpm at the spigot I get about 8-9 after 75ft of hose. About the pump not pulling from the tank I can try getting a low profile tank and put it on the top deck with large pvc pipe so that it can gravity feed my pump. I dont know what to do with the SC, i have the unloader set at 3000 psi and when I pull the trigger it drops down to about 2600-2700 psi with a 25 degree tip with a 5.5 nozzle. What do you recommend?

It looks good to me Hector, just make sure you have plenty of o-rings for all of the quick connects you have though. I have 1 quick connect on the end of my wand and that's it for my entire rig. I hate stopping to change o-rings.

thats exactly where it should be with a 5.5 tip. put # 3 tips on the surface cleaner. you get about 2300 psi and full flow.

Thanks Ralph, I will go and buy me 2 #3 tips for my SC. Should I buy 25030's or 15030's what would be better? I was told that my SC might be a little big for my pump, so should I consider the 15 degree because of that? Thank in advance!!

Thanks Vince, I just got this set up put together so was testing it out and it was easier for me to test with all those QC's. but did not really think of all the problems they can cause to be honest, so I will reconfigure and delete some that are not necessary. Thank for the good advice!!!!

Don't know much about that type of pump pulling from a buffer tank, but I would suggest getting one just for the simple fact that when you unloader is dumping water, it will go back to the tank instead of the bottom of your pump. Some people that makes a difference, some not. I like the fact that if a client comes outside and wants to talk about something, I don't have to run over to the unit and kill the engine - I can let it run for a while without having to worry about burning up the pump. Just a little food for thought...

I use 20 degrees in both my surface cleaners, haven't used a 15 degree. When you have a larger surface cleaner, you just have to walk a slower. My 4gpm on my 20 in would take forever. I just bought a 16in whisper wash and love it.
Quick connects is a personal preference. I prefer to have the ability to swap out a bad part when needed on the fly. When you hard plumb now you need a wrench.

Hector, You may want to move your reel down to lower level. That may get old having to reach up that high to roll up. Also, the weight factor, the lower you can keep stuff the better off you're going to be with a small trailer. Same with water tank. Agree, it's nice to have tank for bypassing so you don't have to run shut your machine off every time you stop for a minute.

I've got 19" WW that I run 2503's in with my 4000 psi 4 gpm machine and it cleans great thru 200' of hose.

Thanks ProClean, nothing is bolted down jet I want to get everything then I want to see what works better, but that does make sense about getting old. I just bought 2 25030's and will test tomorrow hopefully that will solve the issue of my SC not turning fast like it should.

Does anyone know if my pump will have trouble pulling from the buffer tank if they are at the same elevation?

Thanks,

Hey Hector,

Most direct drive pumps(or at least the few I have worked with) won't pull from a tank. As Rick mentioned above, You'll want your reel down lower. JMO, I like the reels between waist and chest height. You won't be reaching up and you won't be bending over too much at this height.

As for your tank, Don't forget the weight! If you plan on driving from place to place with liquid in the tank, If it's full it will add approx. 520-580 lbs.(weight of tank and liquid) to the weight of your trailer. The trailer appears to be a 800-1000lb. trailer?

Keep all the heavy stuff as low as possible. As for quick disconnects, It's personal choice. I have several on my set-up and do need to change out the rings from time to time however, I'm okay with it.

Laying down a good fresh mix and proper dwell time helps a lot when your surface cleaner is a little oversized for you machine.

Thanks Michael, I don't plan on taking water with me, I will get water once I get to the property. The trailer is actually rated at 1,450lbs, but I don't think it will be and issue since I wont be hauling water with me (that would be the heaviest part) and the rest of the equipment might be around 400lbs.

Thanks Ralph, yes I will do pre-treatment. right now I use 10% SH with freshwash and I put some EBC with the mix. I been reading about the Dragon Juice and might give it a try to see if it help.

You're welcome Hector... Your trailer has a nice load capacity!!! As Ralph mentioned, Lay down a good pre-treatment before using your SC. I pre-treat all flat surfaces before washing and sometimes, Lay down a post-treatment depending on the stain.

Looks like you're well on your way and try to keep things simple. Don't fall for a bunch of niche items.... Just a dozen or so(good quality) nozzles, Your chemical injectors and let it fly...

Thanks Mike, I will do that!!!!

Hello all just an update about my surface cleaner, I installed the new tips 25030's and is now working great. Did a little test run and is spinning at a much faster rate and it is cleaning good. Thanks for everyones help. I have another question, when you are done using your machine and is putting everything up, what am I Suppose to do with my pump? I would think water stays in it should I run it for a second to try to get the water out? Or do y'all just leave it in there? Thanks in advance!!!!!

Hector, Don't ever let your pump run dry!!!!!!!!! Shut the machine off before turning off the water and purge all air before starting up.....
