First of all, great site, I have been lurking around different boards and I like this one the best so far.

I am in the first stages of getting into the business, looking for the best washer, getting marketing ideas, and learning different techniques. So far the only experience I have is washing my own house and deck. I have a 1650 psi electric pressure washer @ 1.5 gph that I use around house. After 5 years of washing my own house, I have come up with some decent techniques.

My thinking was I was going to get a good hot water unit and use this business for my retirement and my regular job to support my family for another 12 years, hopefully to retire (from my reg. job) when I am 50. I have been in the Rail Road Cross Tie business for 12 years and worked myself up to a Plant Manager position (I've been trying to work myself out of for the past 5 years:mad: ). But after reading post after post I think I could do this full time. I do not live in big metropolitan but their are some decent size cities in my area, and by looking in the differnet directories I do not see very much compitition.

Anyways, I am in the market for a system, been looking at new and used. I came across one unit, let me know what you guys think.

Landa - 3000psi @ 5-6gpm
16hp Vanguard
212 degree diesel heater (12 volt system)
325 gal water storage
350' high pressure hose & reels
3 different wands?
Mounted in a 7x12 inclosed trailer
Ladder racks
3 years old
700 hours
$8500

The guy I have been talking to is covered up with car detailing and has no time for the big unit, and said that his accounts would go with the machine (I don't think that is up to him though)

$3500 at the most, if it and the trailer are immaculate, you could get something much better new for $8500.

Hey thanks for the reply John & Russ, I Have a rep that comes by the plant once a week to deliver soap and service our pressures washers, I will talk with him. What kind of set up do you guys recomend?

Mike, Let us know what the rep says, it should be interesting.

Ron, Is that supposed to mean that is a good place to by a pressure washer or does it mean that I should not waste my time with this business venture because of the popularity in Spingdale? Springdale is 128 miles from me.

Just pointing out its the capital, I didnt realize AR had that much room. Tyson, walmart , alltell and all the other Giants. Oh yeah [C-tech and karcher]

I didnt know if people on the BBS realize AR history with this business.

Any and everyone should buy equipment where they feel comfortable.

Don't forget Simpson PW is base there as well. Home of the dual belt driven water shotgun and alto hydra scrub surface cleaner. GREAT PRODUCTS. One of the first' in the industry right along with Karcher and still going strong.

Mike,
I started pwing part time 8 years ago with less then you are looking at. Now I have 4 guys working full time and next spring I plan on retiring from my bottle making career of 36 years with a pension. i'll be 55 and our business has grown much faster Then I expected. Good luck
