need help with downstream injector questions

Hello Everyone,
I have a 3000psi, 5.6gpm hot water machine that has an upstream injector for chemicals. I do not want to put anything into my pump so I was wondering if I could re-plumb that injector to use downstream. It has hose barbs on both ends so I might have to buy a downstream injector. Another question is where do I install it? Between my heater coil and my hose reel? I do not know and people told me not to run soap or other chemicals through my heater coil because it affects the chemicals. Please tell me what kind of injector (adjustable, non-adjustable, steel ball, ceramic ball) you think would work well. I will be downstreaming soap, degreaser, and just about any chemical through the hose depending on the job. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

You need a different type of injector to downstream. You will also need to buy a dual lance, or a rollover nozzle to set up the proper action to make it all work.
What happens with an upstream injector is that water flow is restricted just enough to make the pump work to get the 5 GPM it is rated at and it sucks the chemicals up. There is usually some kind of regulator valve or knob to control the flow of chemical to maintain the proper dilution ratios.
A downstream injector is set up on the Venturi principle. This means when there is low pressure in the line it will suck chemical, and when it is high pressure it will not suck. That is why you need the dual lance or rollover. On one side of the nozzle head (for lack of a better term) there is a high pressure nozzle, on teh other side you will need a soap nozzle. When you want high pressure, turn off the soap nozzle, and when you want soap, reduce pressure and the soap will come out. Usually these work best with less than 200 feet of hose, although there are a few manufacturers o ther ethat I have noticed that are efficient at larger distances. JE Adams injectors are one brand, and E-SPec claims to have one that works well, also. I have not tried one myself.

Hope this helps.
