Hello all fleetwashers

I am bidding on Comcast cable contract for about 150 trucks and I need a good ball park price. They have some big trucks some vans and some pick up trucks. I was thinking to bid one flat price of $5.00 a vehicle. SO I though to ask all of you Pros! if that is to low or to high or just right..

Thanks

First of all, depending on the ratios of the size of trucks, you should be able to do this easily in about 5-6 hours with a helper. What we do and what works for us is the bucket and wash mit approach. Have a guy that is scrubbign down the smaller vehicles with a wash mit, I like the chenille one from Target, and is just keeping ahead of you. Have a guy that is rinsing, and then a guy to squeegee windows, if you want. That guy with the wash mit has to be careful not to get into too much mud. If it is there, the rinser will need to take care of it. If they are done on a regualr weekly, or biweekly basis, you should be able to fly through the cars this way. Adjust your prices accordingly.

I guess im still from the brushless old school
First of all There is no way I would charge just 5.00 maybe add another 10.00 or so.

I would either go pre-spray or up-stream................

You asked the question . now lets see how many different replys ya get. Everybody does it different and most gets great results .

Im sure Scotts way is great . for me that would be a pain in the bottom b/c I have no body helping .And I love it that way. Except maybe my son now again.

I'll have to agree with Scotts way and Dan's needing more money.

I know I don't want the account for 5 nomatter how many Van's and pickups they have,I don't think me and two helpers could do them what fast, that wouldn't be nothing but elbows and O's sticking up in the air for 5-6 hours, easy my hind foot.

Scott have you ever tried useing a TRUE sheating wax in your rinse,it'll sheat the water off glass easy leaving no spots. If it works for you ,you could put two miten,Allo-tec makes a good sheating wax plus its a cleaning wax,I liked it for its extra cleaning power on bug-e chrome,it was priced right.

Thanks for the info

so big boy what about that wax in the rinse where can I buy this product it sonds great do I just pour some in my tank?

thanks agen

Eric

AlloTec,1-800-264-256,,talk to Pete......ask for Citra-shean wax.........should run around 37 for 5 gal.

yes you can pour it in your supply tank but I think I would rather meter it out of another tank which will add it to the rinse, you can use a 5 gal jug or can to meter out of.

I have tried sheeting waxes before. One from Delco and one from a local distributor. The problem is the water here is really hard. It runs at 800 grains which is probably 2 to3 times more than the water where you are. So if I am looking for spot free, it doesn't work. I may try it agaiin in the future a couple of little projects. It sure can't hurt.

Our water here is so hard our fish have to flop several times before they break back though the surface and stink what you talking about rotten egges is a blessing to its smell,it would even turn ya teeth rusty color.About 20 years ago they finally got soft water piped to us,rural water they call it,I call it drinking water cuzz your sure couldn't drink the other unless ya hold ya nose and took a slip,a slip is all ya gut could hold b/c its hardest came with a heavy load,,,,they'd even tell people it was a hardwater gut not a beer gut...............I miss the water softer guy but do not miss getting out here and changing twice a month, love my rural water.I hardly ever use hardwater anymore, most of the farmers I wash for has rural water but I do at times still run into and I make sure the supply tank is emn'ty when I leave.I have no trouble getting rust stains out lol, everything around here even pickups and eqt. had a yellowest orangest look to it................................yel man think less than 40 would be wise to spend to see if it saved a dallor, almost bet you put him miten.Hot or cold, stronger faster the sheat off, just a few oz will do tho, even has a citra smell, its a sealer wax with built in rinse aids,it'll have just a touch of foam when applying.

Delco's had a "suggested price list" on their BB for quite awhile.

http://www.dcs1.com/del/pricing.html

Obviously the amount of vehicles and frequency of wash changes things alot. Their list will help you if you're totally in the dark and I've always wondered what the industry standard truly is where fleet washing prices are concerned i.e. 27' and 45' Trailers, one and two axle tractors, bobtails, and 3/4 ton vans.

I think the list has some value and it's good that they broke it down into environmental and non-environmental washing.

I'm with you Bigboy, overall, soft water is best!!!

Thanks, I am going to give them a call and try it out.

I have seen the delco sight it's helpfull

thank you all

Eric
