My turn to gripe

I just spent the last day repairing my machine, This is how lazy employees can be.... How does one person run a machine so dry, That it cracks the plungers, brass caps, and packing all in one shot... Its called lazy... I just cant take it no more... You open up the trailer and you have a mess, Like I never had a place to put all the stuff I carry... Or you go to the back of the pick-up bed, You have razor blades, card board, Trash, Not like I dont park by the dumpsters... Well I am done, I try to be a nice Guy, But nice does not work...

Whats your horror stories?
 
Don't feel like you are alone-we just have to try to keep on top of it-this has happen to all of us. It happen to me just two week ago. It's only money!!!!
 
The last one I can remember is when one of my guys took in one of our steamers to get repaired because it wouldnt start. Turned out it was the power cord, something that could have been replaced for a few bucks but ended up costing over $100 at the repair shop.

I have had numerous "my fan doesnt work and your guys were here last night's" only to find it was a breaker or fan switch that they forgot to turn back on.

I flunked one guy on a qual a few years back because he missed a lateral, "its inaccesible" he says, "oh really" I say. "see that big door in the ceiling right next to the hood?" "Um yeah" "What do you think is behind that door?" , "Um, an access panel?" "Um, yeah!"
 
I like Davids answer, Its only money... That made me laugh... It could be that Ive been up since 8:30 yesterday morning....

Knock on Wood....I've been having luck with incentive-based pay scales. Still gotta find the right people though...it just helps the ones on the edge to become motivated. The system has to be dynamic, it's too hard to just set something in stone.....and some will try to find any loophole possible to take advantage of.

We pay them a bonus (e.g. $50 each) if they don't lose crap they shouldn't lose...

We take inventory and if the tools/equipment are there, they get their bonus: drills, sprayer, magnets, clamps, etc...it amazing how things don't get lost when it's their money on the line.
 
when my dad looses my stuff he just tells me i need to go buy more ,if i loose my stuff i have to go buy more .....hummmmm......my dad works for me and i work for myself....hummmmm.....not working for me but its a good idea......my dad gets a commission bonus plus his rate for all buisness brought in and he does labor
