My Daughters A Deputy NOW!!

Whatever it is make sure she's comfortable with it. I have owned a .45 and shot accurate with it...but it wasn't something I could grab and go in case of someone breaking in the house. I have a .380 Makarov that takes 9mmx18mm shells and still packs a punch. Smaller grip so I feel comfortable shooting it. Shot 8 rounds in a 4 inch spread when I went to the range right after Christmas.

DANG, I Love It When A Woman Talks Like That!!!

I don't know anything about guns....but I would go with either one of these:

Pic. 1 - If you carry this...you have to be a nut.
Pic. 2 - If it's good enought for 007, it's good enough for me.

The major manufacturers make good products, Glock, H&K, Sig Sauer is where I would stay. It depends on what feels good in your hand. Caliber is becoming a big debate of what works best and why..... that being said, it is a matter of personal opinion. I would stay away from 9mm as it is not effective for stopping a threat in a small volly ( 1 or 2 rounds) unless the aim point is "on". I would go with .40cal or .357 sig. These rounds are proven to be very effective when needed.

Springfield Armory XD. If you're not crazy about the Glock trigger only safety, the XD is very comperable with an additional safety on the back of the hand grip. Very woman friendly trigger pull. My wife qualified for the TN handgun permit class with the XD9.

SWAT (me) here uses 9mm...more accurate. I hope she never has to uses it....

S & W 40

Of course I would know nothing at all concerning the S & W 40's effectiveness of ridding a Texas motel parking lot of noisy hispanics.

The Dept I just left issued us Beretta 92D 9mm, but I carried a Glock 22 40 cal. with a Streamlight M6 light/laser as a backup. I carried it in the front pouch of my tactical vest. I have always been a .40 cal fan. 9mm doesn't have enough knockdown power for my liking and a .45 has too much recoil to sight back on your target and capacity is also very low on a .45. I think .40 is the happy medium between the two.

That being said, I think I would look at getting her the Glock 23 or 27 if she has small hands. Is this for a backup?

I also carry a .38 special revolver for when I need to conceal or in the summer time to conceal better.

I think the glock is the front runner, she wants to spend more money on the spring field .40 , this model is double the money.

My service revolver is a S&W 9mm hollow tip rounds and my off duty is my better gun with more kick and also hollow tips the S&W 40 cal pictured below. Both of my Gun are blacker then the ace of spades so they conceal better at night.
Say hello to me Smith and Wesson:triniti:
