Just thought about this idea.
Russ, what about using a larger muffler to quiet the noise (maybe like an auto muffler but I heard that there needs to be a certain amount of back pressure or you can run lean or burn up the engine somehow).
With the larger muffler you can build a support that comes off the pump/engine base to hold up the muffler and then bolt it to the engine so that might help with the vibration/weight on the threads problem.
If the weight of the muffler is supported by the mount legs or other part of the skid/rig/engine headbolts or other part of the engine that would work then maybe the muffler bolts will not break anymore?
I have been wanting to put a larger muffler to make the system quieter on my Briggs Vanguard 21hp engine for a long time but have not thinking that it might cause the enine to get messed up somehow.
