Sorry it has taken so long, but here are some more photos from the spill. We dont have and rigs working on the spill, but all of our boats are still there.
I had my boat working for BP for 2 months. It was GOOD money.Anytime we wanted to get the boat deconned we would just ride over to a big pontoon rig that had hot water washers setup on it.We would drive up they would grab the baot with long gaffs we would get out they would degrease it and wash it off.We jump back in and go home.It was a drive thru boat wash.
The amount of money that was and is being spent to clean this thing up is beyond belief,BP must have unlimited amounts of money.I will say this it is a disaster of huge proportions but as a company BP has gone above and beyond anything I think anyone could have asked for from a company.
we only have to decon when the boat is leaving the job for good. We still have all our boats working and about 25 employees on the beach doing clean up. We currently have our own division in Venice.
Where was your boat working?
IMO BP has done great on the spill as well as giving back to the fisherman. Alot of the boats out there are fishing boats.
My boat was in Bay Jimmy on the Plaquemines Jefferson parish line.We worked out of Port Sulphur for DRC.Who are you working for in Venice?I'm from Buras which is about 10 miles north of there. If you need another boat call me.It comes with a captain or without. All of us are 40 hr haz mat certified. We have worked boom hard and soft, Shaeffer vacuums,Diaphragm pumps, almost everything they threw at it.
I heard they got rid of most of the boats and went back to men on the beach.
