More criminals I mean cops

They are not local police any more. They are a Nationally inter active Para Military group of Storm Troopers. They break more laws in a day than average people break in a lifetime. All in the name of Justice. Their job is not to protect and serve but rather to capture and confiscate. They must feed an increasingly privatized network of For Profit prisons and jails where 1 out of every 100 americans are summarily housed. We have more persons incarcerated than the total population of some countries and very soon will have 1/3 of all adults under lock and key. "Land of the Free?"

Our local PD wants 1/2 a million to promote 4 positions and restructure the names of positions, and to "restore their good name".

How about eliminating getting caught on camera breaking your own laws to restore your good names? I have family that's in law enforcement, and respect what the proper ones do. On a national level things are getting out of hand, and things seem to be changing now that every phone is a camera too.

One of the problems I can see is recruiting. If you are prior military, you go to the front of the line. How many of those poor boys are suffering from undiagnosed PTSD? I'm not sure that is the best way to go.

Update:
Not only are 1 out of 100 adults in prison, but a little more than 2 out of 100 are on probation or parole. That's more than 3 out of 100 in the system. Kind of like ready made prisoners when the jails get low.

That is nuts, I don't follow the news too close so I didn't hear about this.

IMO it takes a pos to run off a routine stop like that. But I can't even begin to imagine why lethal force was used, wow just wow.

I agree that there was no reason to take off, but the cop had no right to try to open his door. And if I were a black man in America right now, I would be scared as hell of cops! I am already paranoid of them as a white man in America, so I think this guy was just nervous that a cop might shoot him in the face for no reason. And sure enough, a cop shot him in the face for no reason. Truly sad day and age for America.

Think a problem some police forget is being pulled over is a lot of pressure on the civilian. It jacks your hard beat up and causes stress. Add them riding your a$$ after speeding up on you creates ppl to pull over without blinkers and drive eradic. It's just a normal human reaction. Put additional pressure on someone that a small traffic infraction may result in your imprisonment or death without recourse, we have a big problem with over policing. My cousin was a DC senate police officer and the biggest prick I know. Not a model temperament an officer should have when being hired to protect. And he's family. I don't want to here their job is dangerous. Walking a roof, road workers and electricians are injured an die more often the cops. No excuses.

In my "activist" position I probably get more hate mail, phone calls and personal contact than anybody. I am thoroughly hated around here and fully expect the 3am raid at any time. What I have found is that they fully believe everything they do is justified. That is the problem. They are taught that. Las Vegas has one paragraph in their ops manual that even MENTIONS de-escalation as an option. Shelly put forth a bill requiring officers to refrain from escalating situations with foul language and unnecessary yelling of conflicting orders. They killed it by fighting tooth and nail claiming (in so many words) that the swearing, yelling and confusion is what gives them the upper hand and such a bill would result in the blood of officers running in the streets. This is a complete failure in training from the top down. They even teach this crap in civilian concealed carry classes now. I just read a book on the trial of the redcoats from the Boston Massacre. John Adams defended them. The remark was made that the soldiers did as they were trained to do and, as such, were not responsible for their actions. Only two were found guilty of manslaughter. (That's a better percentage than we get today). But going all the way back to the beginning it has always been faulty training, maybe if we start tracing back the root cause of this, and imprisoning the faulty trainers we can make some change.

Tony i know several years ago that we had some good discussions an arguments in fact over these situations about the police.I think you were on to something then maybe you had a crystal ball that you saw this stuff was gonna get alot worse, the police beating, killing innocent people for no reason. So i will admit that you were very very right an i was very wrong in my thoughts an views about what was going on an it has really got out of hand the amount of brutality an violence our so called protectors have carried out against innocent people an animals for that fact. Its good to see you back posting about this kinda stuff.

Actually a TAXI drivers job is more dangerous that a Peace officer , by the way this is there real tittle. Sworn Peace officers.

All the things they stand for are Changed, how do we get the problem cured. I'm afraid it will be a huge under taking.

I think all communities need to start a citizens group within the organization and allow the public they serve help fix public perception. Sorta like a PTA does at schools, not that PTA is effective but it does bridge the education systems to us and our children. Maybe a like org of officers listening to what citizens are actually concerned with. Get officers on bikes and walk beats , make them interact and know the people they are serving. This way they can trust citizens by knowing who is a victim and who is a model citizen.

Start allowing Beat cops to actually use there brains, not arrest everyone and let the judge sort things out. A beat cop of the past had hope to be promoted, now its a life sentence on the street. These guys after 5 years get hard and start taking there jobs out on people. Get back to Police work, stop arresting uber drivers. Change kids lives by becoming a role model rather than someone that beats them if they are caught. Save young lives of kids messing up instead of installing them in a judicial systems thats broke.

Require paid community service to show social skills from officers. Have them work in shelters and boys housing. Visit retirement community to ensure they are present , show them the service they provide is for law abiding people. change the attitude everyones guilty , go back to we are innocent until proven guilty.

Require them a course on the constitution they protect. Preserving our rights come first and for most.

Body Cameras will definitely help-its a start -and required on going training for those currently on the job

Going forward there needs to be a better hiring system-one that involves giving applicants situations involving use of force

This requires legislative changes (at least in NJ)- the way its set up now to get hired- its a written test and a physical..

A good friend of mine has told me its hard to reject applicants based on character as they all appeal and they are usually over turned

A client of mine is an American Airlines pilot. I was chatting with him and told him how I will do everything in my power not to fly anymore. It's not the planes for me, it's all the human contact that comes into it-mechanics, fuelers, pilots; I told him I just have no faith in people to do their jobs.

Now to get back on topic of this thread haha. The pilot informed me that with the company he works for, they undergo psychological tests, personality tests and more. He informed me if you're too much of a jerk they won't let you fly, because you have to be in a cockpit with another pilot for sometimes extended times times of the day. And if you're there with a miserable person, you'll do your job even worse.

I was unaware of all this, and while it doesn't restore my faith in letting a stranger fly me around, it made me feel better than I did before. So where this wall of text I wrote is leading, I feel if these tests are not being done for law enforcement, they should be every so often!

In an effort to break the airplane mechanics unions and or lower their pay, a lot of the airlines that fly outside the US are having their maintenance done in other countries.
