mold removal

@Saument, no worries, Like I mentioned, I don't do many houses more commercial, and the houses I've done simple green actually worked like a charm and is plant safe which the homeowners in my area love. Also, the siding on houses are different, some are textured, some are smooth, and some are just odd so there are some that has mold in the "texture" of the siding and doesn't come off as easy.

I learn everyday, that's how I succeed. I owned a software company for 10 years and learned something new everyday, so running a business and learning something everyday is nothing new to me. I do the powerwashing at nights and weekends for the commercial stuff but now I'm getting calls for houses this summer so, I'm starting down that road.

I'd rather ask questions and look "dumb" instead of not asking and destroying a house and look bankrupt. :)

Yes the SG will help the cleaning process if you are going to pressure wash it. The thing is, is that it doesnt need to be pressure washed. About 10 seconds after the bleach hits the mold its gone, and you just need a low pressure tip to rinse with. Its called "Softwashing". You dont run the risk of damaging the siding on a house, or getting water behind it. Plus you can move ALOT quicker. I did pressure wash a few houses and they took me 4-5 hours. Now our average is around 1 hour 15 minutes. Plus the bleach is so diluted that you dont really run any risk of damage if you water before during and after the cleaning.

If they ask what youre using just tell them its a mild bleach solution. Its the only effective way to KILL the mold so that they have a cleaner house LONGER. If they say anything about "The enviroment" tell them that bleach is a sodium based cleaner, which is natural. I mean honestly, we drink it in our water, and wash our kids cloths in it, but they are worried about the "enviroment". 99% of people wont even ask you.

and some of you wonder why i stopped posting

@Andy, what's you issue? All I did was ask a question, and you make it into a HUGE thing, so is it safe to say your a pro and been a pw pro since birth? So I can assume you never asked questions on chem, equipment, etc? Just because you spent thousands on equipment doesn't make you a pro. I can spend a millon on equipments but it doesn't make me an expert. No one is an expert in anything.

I have 2 machines, a 4000 psi 4 gpm skid mount loaded in my trailer and I also have a 3300 psi portable that I use as well, I also have a surface cleaner as well as a
24' wand.

I do do advertise, network, knock on doors, etc.

I'm not sure I'm taken what your writing the wrong way but dude, come 'on

Mike, I believe that Andy was simply calling you out on the fact that you own a business that specializes in pressure washing, yet you don't know even the simplist things. You say you do commercial, yet you only have 100 feet of hose, no commercial equipment and you use simple green. Hey you do have the yellow noodle. It would have been better to just come on here and use the search. I know a lot of guys will jump me or Andy for calling BS on stuff like this, but not by anyone that really does it for a living. As for knowing about pressure washing since birth, no. But I did research and learn the business before I went into business. I answer a lot of questions on these boards but you want find many post where I am asking questions.

I'm guilty of being a smart ass on this thread too. Which I almost never participate in. But asking about basic house wash mix from an experienced guy with a professional looking website etc is like a mechanic with a garage asking how to change spark plugs. I think it merited the traditional "try the search button" reply.

I can also tell you almost no one here owns a 24' wand ether. Everything is shot from the ground. I think most including me have had to endure a little kidding before we were taken seriously enough to warrant answers. And we did our own searching before we asked detailed questions.

At least Mike didn't take his ball and go home.

Right or wrong the thin skinned don't last long around here.

I tell you guys SH does strange things to a man.:yes4::yes4:

amen

Al it seems you require a pat on the back for staying on much higher ground than most.
Are you saying we made him look dumb? Really?
He is a licensed contractor in the pressure washing business. Cleaning Homes, not dog houses with a 3300psi machine and simple green. The only reason he did not use a higher PSI machine is because he did not have a 100' hose. WTH..
The reason he did not know how to properly clean a home is because he mainly does commercial and commercial must not require a long hose. With those big open parking lots where you can just move the truck. I guess. I'm not saying anyone is dumb and I will do my part to help anyone at anytime. But, for someone pretending to be in the business.
That was a stupid question.
I get my ass kicked by people every week that don't spend the money on chemicals, advertising and equipment that I do.
Boy, get your ass out of bed. Go to Home Depot get you a ladder, a pressure washer and some simple green. Then stick a magnetic sign on your truck. You go knock on some doors. You will be a pro in no time.

AMEN to that

OK, so most of you never asked questions? most of you never asked 'is there a better solution?", so most of you were pros from the word go?

As an owner of a software company, there is a 1000 ways to develop an application or web site and I always talked to other professionals to see what others are using from a technology stand point, etc. In software there is no wrong way, there is just a better way.

Just because I didn't spend 20k on equipment has no meaning, just because I do commercial with a 50' or 100' hose has no meaning, I can pull my trailer right up to the location in 99.9% of the time.

I just can't believe asking a question, I got this kind of reaction from most. Like is most jobs, business, you are always learning, I don't care what most of you say, your not an expert in anything due to things change, from cleaners, to equipment to the object your cleaning.

Most "expert" or professionals would share information to help out others in the same field, in my life of owning businesses from software to others, I never seen other "professionals" in the field respond like this to questions.

Its not like I'm out there illegally doing this and killing the industry like some out there. I fully insured, filed legal papers with the state, got my HIC from the state, etc. I called several companies that sold machines asked questions on machines with what I was going to do and what was the best one to use. I did this for years however the owner of the company got the trucks prepped with cleaners, etc due to him "everything was a secret", and it appears most everyone has that attitude in this field.

Mike its all good buddy, relax and move on to the next question. Sometime we all forget that we didnt know once too.

Stay cool!

One thing you have is tenacity. You don't have much business acumen, but you have tenacity. You say on your website that you use enviro friendly chems for house washing then you tell us here you use simple green.??
Let it rest, lay low and research, figure out how to run your business from other places than a BBS and you will be much more sucessful and can be more honest with your customers. You may have asked your software peers questions and shared info, but did you have training in cow punching or software before you started working there?

Mike great to have you here and keep posting......I learn here everyday. :wave2:

@offdutyfireman, I've been in the IT field for 20 years, and the IT world changes everyday, and I did powerwashing on nights and weekends way back when helping out a buddy of mine with his jobs. I learn something new everyday no matter what I do, from building my hot rod, to power washing to building an app for the iPhone or iPad, or something with my kids, I'm always learning something new everyday or learning a new way to do something that I've been doing for years.

Mike,
I called you today and told you to give me a call to save you the bullshit and drama of this board. Take me up on the offer, give me a call.
Attila
