Modifying Variable nozzle to replace JROD

I am just guessing here but if you drilled out the variable nozzle, you might want to try to make sure the drilled out area was very smooth as distortions can affect the spray and maybe the downstreaming capability, maybe. Maybe polish out the imperfections if there are any.

Chris, good point if the hole isn't just so then it's distorted when the fan is open all the way to 00. A drill press might help that. One of the ones in that picture is perfect and the other slightly irregular they both downstream though and work great otherwise.

I use an adjustable Fan nozzle for down streaming now and it's heat friendly. I'm working on a YouTube video this weekend of it in use. The M-5 has it's place in the PW tool box, just not advisable for house washing.......I know because it's what we started out with. Down streaming is faster, safer and better on equipment hands down...IMO.

We just softwashed a handful of 3 story apartments in Des Moines covered in heavy mildew...day one we used x-jet (drilled out to lower pressure)...day two was downstream injector and jrod tips. Day two went so much easier, with significantly more accurate soap application and less gutter brushing. We had some gable ends that pushed 45 feet but that was no problem downstreaming. I agree with whoever said that xjet has its place, but downstreaming is where its at for the typical soft wash building wash jobs.

Just like every tool out there, a time and place for all tools. I use the X-Jet once every year or two for those special jobs.

Downstream almost 100% of the time. As others have noted, Each tool has its place however, For house washing, It's hard to beat downstreaming!!!
