Merbeau Wood

Anyone familar with Merbeau wood - South American I believe. Not wising to clean, but have a related question. Have been asked to clean brick on a house. Builder has already installed deck made of this material. Will brick cleaning solution (will contain HCl) stain this?
Related question - any special about sealing this wood? Noted that there are some tannins coming out of it, but the oxalic treatment should remove.

You can always pick a spot underneath to test.

As always, I would cover the deck regardless.

I beleive you can use the same cleaning techniques as you would with teak wood. MERBAU has the same characteristics as teak but a little (very little) softer wood.

It can be cleaned but at very low pressure. On the chemicals, look up teak wood cleaning and follow the same guidlines.

Soft wood - be careful on the chemical that you do use.

I passed on this. Actually, the wood itself was not a problem; with good rinsing before and after, chem did not stain. Other problems arose with home owner/contractor, so I told them I would not do.

Bill,

You can go to a site Called Deck Builder and recieve a free subscription to their mag. The magazines content always has articles on new products as well as some of the mainstays for deck builders. Alot of the products mentioned in the mag have websites that are really helpfull. Just thought I would through this in for another valuable tool to use.
