A late-night three-alarm fire at a local restaurant cased significant damage, but luckily no injuries.
The fire at the Egg Roll House, located near the intersection of South Colony Blvd. and Paige Road, attracted firefighters from The Colony, Carrollton, Lewisville, Little Elm and Frisco.
Firefighters were alerted to the blaze after patrons of Nick's Sports Grill next door smelled smoke at about 10:30 p.m. Monday night, said Mike Nolen, The Colony fire chief. The fire was described by Nolen as a "kitchen fire."
"We thought at first it might have been in the attic," Nolen said. "Luckily they did a good job of killing it in the kitchen area."
The fire is believed to have started in an area of the kitchen with a deep fryer, Nolen said. However, he said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Nick's did not sustain damage, Nolen said, while the business on the other end had some smoke damage.
No one was injured by the fire nor in the fighting of it, Nolen said.
