Is anyone providing swamp cooler service to their customers? or working with an A/C company that does it for you?
 
Do you think the health department is educating resturants more about make up air and the quality of kitchen life with a proper air flow and balance?
 
Do you take air flow calculations and adjust the balance for restaurants?
 
That would be nice to learn, I was taught how much air, but not how to measure the air, or how to adjust.

Would I still have to farm out the adjustment, or would it be on pulleys, like a fan. What would you do if it was a direct drive.

Most of the time it can be accomplished by changing the pulleys. I'm not aware of any NFPA 96 approved direct drive fans, or at least I havn't come accross any that I can remember!

Grainger has direct drive fans meeting UL 762.

There are test instruments that will measure air movement. Again Grainger has them. Some of the building codes require tests to make sure the air movement is adaquate. But not in Eastern Oregon. I have a small job coming up that the inspector said it was OK to open a window for return air. He must use a different code book than mine.

Where/who has the formula to calulate pulley size and the effect on air movement?
