Made my first video...

Well,
I finally took Chris and Ron's advice and made a video on my own. My video guy didn't have time to help me out so I tried it myself. Obviously, it's very simple and I already can see some opportunities for improvement. But let me know what you think when you have some time.
Thanks!

Great job on the video. That actually kept my attention the whole time. What size hose is that? Do you have a video or pics of the inside of the truck? :thumbup2: :thumbup2:

That is a great video Blaine! Excellent work.

I am glad you made a video on Fleet Washing, kind of shows people what it is all about.

Maybe for your next video a before/after on a very, very dirty trailer so people can see the amazing difference.

Thanks.

hey blaine nice video , i have a few questions ??? what do you guys do with your water runoff ?? i know about the 2 step system as we use that in our rig . where your system and mine differ is that i use a remote control with a single hose . when you run your single gun with the two chemical hoses incorporated to it are you limited to a certain length of hose you can use?? i have also noticed that alot of 2 step chemicals have a tendency to produce a slight foam due to the surfactants . in your #1 presoak acid are you using some hf in your products?? in the begining i was building a 2 step system that was very similar to yours where i was keeping everything at the gun . i can agree that its much easier on your equipment but i was engineering something with dema and the hose length became an issue when i wanted like 250 ft of hose...here in ny we have the idling law i dont know all the details about it but it looks like your raising your idle on your truck so im assuming ur running off the pto ... i gotta say your pretty fluid with that pressure washer!! btw whats your gpms on your machine?? if i had to guess looks like 6-7

the one downfall about 2 stepping is that you use alot of water especially if you are recovering , but you cant beat the brushless factor and its results.... if improperly mixed some 2 step chemicals have a tendency to dull the finish over time. to me there is no better way to clean fleets in an effective manor than 2 stepping!!!

I would have added some before and after close up shots.

It is a great first video, your next one should be awesome based of off this one.

good video Blaine. So 6 min per side. Looks like your at about 12 minutes per truck. Not bad for 2 stepping with a single person.

In the video it took me 5 minutes to do the one side, so about 10 minutes for both at that speed. However, my video director (my father-in-law) told me to go slow and do multiple chemical switches so everyone could see how easy it was, which I did. Unfortunately, after watching the video I don't think too many people even noticed that it was happening. It would probably take me a little under 8 minutes in real time if I was doing that truck. Unless it's a new account, we never do anything this bad which takes a lot of time and chemical. If this were a regular account I'd be looking at roughly about 5 minutes to wash this tractor. We always use at least two people per truck and in many cases 3 per truck, so you move through a fleet fairly quickly.

Good video.

Is that a proprietary type of system or is that a system available for purchase?

Also I'd suggest narrating the video explaining what's going on. Pretty easy if you are using Windows Media Player.

with 3 people per truck how long does it take to do 5? And does one use acid one soap and third water? Or are they each switching between chems?

A.TRKWASH;169184 hey blaine nice video , i have a few questions ??? what do you guys do with your water runoff ??

It all depends on the situation. This place has an onsite detention pond which filters the runoff naturally. And since it's two stepped, the PH is close to neutral which helps. Ther are others that are bay washed, others matt washed, and others standard reclaimed. Ther is no one-size-fits-all in our area.

i know about the 2 step system as we use that in our rig. where your system and mine differ is that i use a remote control with a single hose . when you run your single gun with the two chemical hoses incorporated to it are you limited to a certain length of hose you can use??

Not limited, only by choice. Our most common length that we use is 100 feet, but we run as long as 150 per hose on some trucks. We found that the additional length doesn't benefit us a whole lot.

i have also noticed that alot of 2 step chemicals have a tendency to produce a slight foam due to the surfactants . in your #1 presoak acid are you using some hf in your products??

No, we quit using HF about 20 years ago due to the dangers. It is a great cleaner, but we just felt it wasn't worth the risks.

in the begining i was building a 2 step system that was very similar to yours where i was keeping everything at the gun . i can agree that its much easier on your equipment but i was engineering something with dema and the hose length became an issue when i wanted like 250 ft of hose...

Hose length wouldn't be problem for us. I just wouldn't want something that long. We do couple 2 hoses together for special jobs which would put us over 200 feet, and it performs wihout a hiccup.

here in ny we have the idling law i dont know all the details about it but it looks like your raising your idle on your truck so im assuming ur running off the pto ...

Yes, it is PTO driven, so you don't have all of those gas engines to deal with and the problems to go with it, plus hauling around 2 kinds of fuel and the dangers of gas vapor near the open flame of the burners. I'm curious about the "idling" law that you mentioned. What do cement trucks, shredder trucks, and other trucks that us a PTO to perform their business do there? Technically, it's not idling since the truck is in service. And what is to be gained if 3 gas engines are running in its place using 3 times the amount of fuel as a diesel truck running at 900 RPM's? In addition to less fuel consumption hence less air pollution, you have a lot less noise pollution as well. Do you think it is geared more for trucks idling for no apparent reason to be idling?

i gotta say your pretty fluid with that pressure washer!! btw whats your gpms on your machine?? if i had to guess looks like 6-7

We're running at about 7.5 GPM per gun. Not too sure about the "fluid" part though. I don't wash as much as I used to...

IndyExterior Good video.

Is that a proprietary type of system or is that a system available for purchase?

It is proprietary, but we have around 30 different fleet washers around the US and Canada using the cleaning system. To be allowed to use the cleaning system, it is a requirement that they also use our detergents through it.

Also I'd suggest narrating the video explaining what's going on. Pretty easy if you are using Windows Media Player.

Another good suggestion. I thought about that as well. That would help explain the chemical changes that I went through. I used Windows Movie Maker like Chris suggested to me earlier, and it was as simple to use as he said it was. And like he told me: The best part is it's FREE!

Each guy has the ability to switch between chems so hey each go their separate way and wash their own trucks which increases your wash quality. They also don't get in each others way either. What typically happens that, depending on the circumstances, one guy would take the numbers while two guys wash, then the 3rd guy would help the two washers pack up and move on to the next job. The 3rd guy really helps when you get to the locations where you are doing 10-150 pcs and it pays for the 3rd guy to get out his gun and start washing. 5 pieces of equipment that you normally wash? Maybe 15-20 minutes, depending on what they are.

sorry I was confused. When you said we always use 2-3 guys per truck I was thinking per tractor wash. My bad.
