looking for video on rebuilding a pump

You will need a packing extractor kit to do it right. Without it chances you will damage the brass and spend more money replacing them than the cost of having it rebuilt. I had a pump brought to me back in December that the guy was going to rebuild himself. All of the parts were in a box He completely dismantled everything. I am not saying you can not do it. Just wanting to let you know there is more than meets the eye Good Luck.

I have always used a snap ring plier to remove packings. I am not saying that's right, but we have never replaced the brass inside or the ceramics.

If you buy the parts from me, I have an extractor that I loan free of charge. You pay postage both ways, and keep it no longer than a week.

What pump?

Hey Russ! What about the Cat 66dx40gg1?

My thermal relief valve is leaking again. I replaced it once. Machine has maybe 10 hours on it. 2 months old. The warranty doesn't cover tank fed units although that's what the store clerk said. I'm running a bypass and will remove the valve then plug the hole. I'm just curious about the rebuild process. Eventually I'll upgrade to a hydrotek 8gpm.

It's a direct drive, so it won't want to draw as easily as a belt drive, so use large (1") suction hose, dual feed it if you can, and start the machine up at just over an idle to help it get primed...the slower it moves, the more suction it produces. And, if you bypass back to the tank, that leaky valve is absolutely useless. Plug it off.
