After thinking about it I should tell you that after 6 months or so you may start having trouble with the circuitry in these lights, depending how much water you get in them. I have removed the circuit board and am using an outside charger, it only takes about 15 minutes to rewire.
These are not halogen, water does not effect the bulb. These are lights that Fire Fighters carry into burning buildings, so yes they are rugged.
I pay about $120 for one but I have one still in service a year and half later. You can get a flood light bulb for general lighting, we use the spot light bulb for more direct lighting.
