Let's talk Moss vs. Lichens

First off, can someone provide a definitive description for both with a picture.
what are your methods for removal?
I scrub it off with a brush, sauce it, and rinse. It usually takes forever to rinse because all the stuff i missed with the brush turns white and i sit there with a garden hose slowly "jetting" it off.
*crying* can someone help me find a *sniff* better way?:(

This is Moss. Not sure why you would want "it" off.

Not very helpful but you never know what google will find. Lichen does not require the near constant moisture that moss does.
There are quite a few different mosses. The standard moss is pretty easy to remove once burned and even easier if left to dry.
I have found this type of lichen on sidewalks but not any roofs. The pressure required to remove is definitely greater than that of moss.

I'm still learning but i'm pretty sure your not supose to brush it man. That lifts the granules and causes damage. i tell the home owner if they have a bad lichen problem that we applied a coating but that its the toughest stuff to get of so i spray it and then let it eat till the next rain comes

moss typically looks 'puffy'

lichen can like corn flakes, there is tons of different types of lichen but all typically set roots into the shingles.
