Let's Talk About Down Streaming Mixes

I use 6.5% SH straight in a 5 gal bucket. I have a 12hp Honda general pump belt drive Graco. Its like 12 years old but runs good..

Another reason I joined PWI is to figure out how to improve profits per house..at 10 gallon per house that's 30 bones for SH....seems like I could be doing something more economical.

Nice video Ron. Man...shew I gotta upgrade my equipment! What's a good downstream combo that's affordable and effective? SH mixed with some cherry for siding?

First I would get the stronger SH like 12.5%, that will make things clean faster, better and save you money as you will use less.

Unless you are doing some extremely large houses, you're using way too much product. For me it's about 3 gallons of mix for a 2300 square foot house with heavy mold, so I might use two gallons of SH on the house at the most. Whatever is leftover goes into a bucket for concrete. Per house job, with SH and simple cherry I'm right around $5-6.

12.5% SH is everywhere around here for 2.50/gallon jug. We just go to the pool supply and get it in bulk out of their tank for about $2/gallon.

Yeah... Anything bulk with tanks or drums wouldn't fly this year. I rent space for both of my businesses but I'm way too deep inside the building to store drums. It's a big old industrial building. It's the absolute perfect place for my other business but not the PW side.

All I really need for that is a place for my trailer and chemicals that is 100% secure. That's my project for the winter.

I can't get my logo to post, so I just typed it out. I hope that is sufficient. Also, I completely understand the reason for needing the signature filled out. "Billy Bob" with Billy Bob's Pressure Washing (using equipment he got at Lowes) can steal all kinds of info and all of a sudden Billy Bob is an expert.....
This is so true. I have seen many over the years that no nothing and within six months they are giving all types of advice, much of it wrong. One guy was telling how to do decks even though the stated he never did one. Proper education is vital for everyone.

So what ratio for H2O and SH? in a 5 gal is it 1 to 4 SH and water with a dab of cherry?

I would try adding some of your soap to the Sh and see how good that cleans, if it does a great job then you can try adding in water to the sh to see if you can dilute it.

There are many variables in downstreaming so it is hard to just say a ratio of this or that without knowing everything about your machine, hoses, tank, injector, soap, sh, etc........

Sometimes you have to do a little bit of experimenting to see how strong your machine will pull so then you can adjust your mix, you can't always go on what people say unless they have the exact machine, exact hoses, exact chemicals, working on the exact house, etc.......

Alright everyone well I see a lot of talk soft washing and I know there are a lot of mixes out there for use with chemical pumps. I know a lot of you state that you cannot get a sufficient mix down streaming but for the ones that are doing it, what solutions and mixes do you use?

I would like to know what you are using for Flat Surfaces, Roofs and House washing...

If you can please give me some feedback on this I would greatly appreciate it.

I like the LOGO

Great advice! We can only prepare so much. Ultimately, little by little I'll get the hang of it!

I like the X-Jet. I calculated formulas many years ago using this method for myself and later for my customers. This way I get the correct concentration I need. This way saved me quite a bit of time and I taught many to cut their house wash time in half.
Care to share some of your formulas?
