I personally ran kerosene. I had less problems with soot than those I knew running diesel.

I do hate the soot, but the btu's are what counts! I use a muffler deflector to shoot the exhaust straight up

Hello Doug,

In our White truck we have a Kubota engine that runs our pressure pump and 8000 watt generator. We run it on Amoco’s Premier fuel. It is said to burn even cleaner than kerosene.

We have one tank and run the burner and the engine on this fuel. Works great.

This is Off Road fuel. You cannot run it in your truck because there is no road use tax on this off road fuel.

diesel now that it is down to 15 ppm sulfur content really is a lot cleaner then what it used to be. I looked into Kerosene, was double the price at the time and way more hassle. I have never seen a soot issue in any burner I have pulled apart unless the air bands are not set correctly.

To answer Ron, there is a tipping point when it comes to size of the boiler/burner as well. The more btu's the more heat is lost out the stack and the longer length of coil is needed to capture it. You can heat the water more efficiently and use less fuel with 2 smaller burners vs 1 large one when doing 10 gpm plus.
