It happened to me 2 years ago. We didnt have out domain on auto renew, and ours goit bought and parked as a porn "distribution" site. Cost us $350 to get it back, which really, we would have paid ALOT more for it.
 
"They" know that and there are bot programs that just hit web pages all day by the millions looking for recently expired ones to hit up. At the last olympics there was a mens down hill skier that was canadian that ended up skiing for Austrialia who has made millions doing that and hosting porn web pages. No wonder the Canadians did not want him.
 
Keith sent me a site where I can get all my files. He also sent a message apoligizing and saying he had a horrible year and it just kept getting worse

Its to bad, I hate when folks are hurting, I told him if I can help let me know and I said when it gets better, I will use him for sure. He is the Graphics King for PWing

Hey Jeff,
When he says Horrible year I relate that to business but in this case I have to be wrong because so many people I know used him. We had probably another $1000 worth of work we needed from him to start this year off. So I can't imagine on the business end it was horrible unless he over expanded or just took on to much and got swallowed up by it all...but then again I find that hard to beleive with him. Either way If there is something we all can do to help him give us a shout out.

Yesterday. No he's not working on anything for me and havent heard him doing any work for anyone, basically gave me all my past files in case I needed them. I heard he's done this, sent all files to others. It just looks like he's totally out of doing any work for now

Like I said before he was 98% done with a revised website for me, he could just finish it in a day or two and he could collect a check. He really must of had some crud going on to just drop it all. I am concerned about the guy. I really hope 2011 things go better and gets back in the game.

I don't know, I really dont think its anything about business

This is the email I got, you got to feel for the guy, he was always so prompt on getting me stuff, never complained when I had a million changes and his rates were affordable and he did great work for me for close to 5-6 years. All I got to say is chit happens in life and it looks like it did for our guy Keith, God Bless him and I hope all turns out great for him, to give him peace and he gets back to doing what he does best

I just sent you a box.net invite to download files of everything I designed for you in the past.

Words cannot express how deeply, terribly sorry I am for the way I completely botched things up, this year has just been an absolute nightmare that went from bad to worse and I've been out of the loop for too long -keith
 
Keith has done (2) logos a full brochure and was in the process of doing my website when he flaked. He has $500.00 of mine and I have no website. I have spent an additional $800 to have someone else recreate through the jpegs (which is all I had for my $500.00) what he had created. It is June, almost July, and I began this process in January . I have no doubt that i have lost money in the 10's of thousands of dollars for not having my website up and running. The very worst part of it was that the website was done....it just had to be programmed, and he doesn't even do that. I could have had someone do that, if he would have just sent me my files. I called begging on the phone for my files, begging.... no keith.
 
To be fair, he probably saved you 100's of thousands of dollars by not letting you get sued for using a trademarked/copyrighted name as your DBA.

Also, good luck with that SEO nightmare of a name.

Last time I checked, "(The) A-Team" is a registered tv/movie franchise.

It's not exactly legal to use someone's intellectual property for personal profit.

Unless your avatar and posts like "*insert a-team theme music here*" are just a freak coincidence to any copyrighted material.
 
I'm not so sure about that guys. There are about 15 "CSI's" here in Las Vegas from office cleaning to crime scene cleanup. The music is one thing, but the name is probably legal. After all "A-team" was a prior reference before the tv show even aired.

But you're right about the SEO nightmare.
 
Tony- You are correct. The A-Team name can be used, but only ambiguously. But as soon as anything referencing or playing off of the TV show starts, it's crossing the line.


I'm sorry for de-railing this thread... I just found it a bit humorous that B.A. was complaining about how he "lost 10's of thousands" in business, while his entire business name is (not even subtly) ripping off someone else's ideas.
