System and method for vent hood cleaning and comprehensive bioremediation of kitchen grease

A commercial and institutional kitchen retrofit system for 1. the automatic daily cleaning of commercial kitchen exhaust hoods and flues, 2. a low pressure, low volume, recirculating cleaning system designed for the removal of oily residue from hard surfaces and the accelerated bioremediation of the resulting collective hydrocarbon waste, 3. the collection and elimination of roof-top grease accumulations, 4. the systematic on site incubation and enhanced propagation of cultured, hydrocarbon specific, bacterial microorganisms in an automatically mixed aqueous solution containing PH neutral oxidizers and hydrocarbon base emulsifiers altogether, producing a regenerative, recyclable cleaning solution specifically developed for use in 5. and the automatic daily introduction of an oxygen enriched, microbe charged solution into kitchen drain lines, thereby reducing the stoppage of drains caused by the solidification of grease and ultimately promoting the biodigestation and reduction of accumulated grease in the main grease trap integral to the sewer system.

Anyone know if this thing ever made it to the real world?

What is it's real world use?

Geez I don't have a clue what I just read. You need a chemistry book to figure it out, LOL Is this simply and complete self cleaning system (including the duct and fan) with some enzymes introduced to digest the grease before it is released into the drain system?

Best I can tell, everynight after the hood system is turned off, a live bacteria that eats grease is sprayed throughout the entire grease exhaust system.

I know that the bacteria only lives at a certain temperature and can't survive the heat in general.

Interesting concept. I'd love to see the prototype in action.

YEP. I think its the same stuff you will find under alot of the bigger restaurant sinks. Does it work? I dont know.

" the automatic daily introduction of an oxygen enriched, microbe charged solution into kitchen drain lines, thereby reducing the stoppage of drains caused by the solidification of grease and ultimately promoting the biodigestation and reduction of accumulated grease in the main grease trap integral to the sewer system."

It helps to keep the drains clear. Released on a timer or actuated by drain flow
Cuts the grease in the drains/Grease traps.
Cant remember where I saw it last.Cant be good for Roto Rooter if it works.lol
Will have to look at where I've been and contact them.Could be another good niche market.
GOAT.

I've seen the grease sink IV systems that have been developed. But I've never seen an application designed to spray the stuff up inside of the grease exhaust system on a nightly basis to eat the grease.

It's a novel concept and it would be very interesting to see one used on a chinese restaurant. I'd sign up to sell/install the systems in a heartbeat if it would work on those fly paper ductwork systems.

Rusty,

Good post! Very interesting!

Have you been doing any chinese restaurants? I noticed you mentioned "fly paper ductwork systems", seen some latley.

I cleaned a mexican restaurant that hadn't been cleaned in about a year and a half. Had at least 1 in build up of rubber grease on the fan.

Hand scrape, chem, steam, scrape, chem, steam, scrape, chem, then one last steam.

Basically go the duct and fan and blades as good as I could get them and then will f/u with a regular maintenance program to get them back in shape.

I've seen systems with things growing in them but they don't seem to eat up the grease!
