Ikeca Why?

Welcome Bryan, In TX you are not required to carry WC on yourself. But if you have employees, you absolutely need it. If your wife is a partner in the business, she is not required to carry it either. But if she is an employee, thats a different story. If you want to do any State or Federal contracts, you will need WC, not the alternative, but the real deal. And again Welcome to the "Bidness".

I called IKECA and you are right they do require to have members to carry workers comp. I think that rule is wrong and should be reviewed-I see what I can do-don't count on a chage next week. Things take time-they are having some changes as of the New Year.

I think that requirement is silly for an organization. I really dont understand what they are trying to accomplish.
Heck I see hood stickers for a company here in California that does not have WC and they are not a member of IKECA but they proudly display IKECAs logo on their stickers, letterhead and brochures.

If that is the case who is it and we will take care of it. Tell us!!!!

Is there an echo in here?

We don't do the exhaust thing so my input here may be a completely mute point, however, for the companies that we do work for (builders) we have to carry WC - even though we as owners are not covered. What it boils down to, even doing residential house cleaning, if you are injured while working on someone else's property, if you do not have the WC coverage in place (ghost policy or otherwise) the property owner is responsible for your injuries. So on some level, it may not be out of line for IKECA to require it if they are somehow "backing" your work.

Again, this is at least in NC and applies to any kind of cleaning for other folks. Whether the Hirer is aware of their liability or not isn't the point. Carrying WC is a good selling tool when they do figure it out.

I obtained my best accounts because the last company was a member of IKECA...... and didn't touch the flue or fan ...basicly lousy job. Not being a member is my best selling point. sorry just a fact

Any company who has employees have the same issues-Why even bring this up. You think that IKECA is somehow have created the problem and issue? We have all had bad days and cleanings.

Lou,
there are only 2 members in AZ - go and check www.ikeca.org and call them up and thank them.
I know who they are----and I did pick up the phone once to do just that (my lady made me see folly in it )..

I have recieved a few threating calls from some one to brave to identify himself. calls go something like
me:Hoods & More Lou speaking
unidentified person:YOU S.O.B. YOU STOLE MY F***ING ACCOUNT
me: You'll get over it
unidentified person: Yelling like crazy(at this point I have them on speaker, laughing)
me:We sir, I woundn't have believed thinking that highly of you, you be that upsetting. But I'll try to keep it in mind. Have a great day (and hang up):D
