Ice dam Removal

Anyone on here do ice dam removal. We started doing ice dam removal this year and just use our hot water pressure washer dialed way down on the pressure and way up on the heat. Essentially pouring hot water under it to loosen it up so that we can toss it off the roof. Cam across a unit called the arctic steamer. http://www.americanpressureinc.com/arctic-steamer-ice-dam-solution.html Looks like a better way of doing it, less water more heat. Does Anyone have experience with it? I also cam across a unit called KEW, that apparently get to 400 degrees. (http://eauclaire.craigslist.org/grd/4283619559.html) I dont know if that would hold up to being used for hours on end. But 400 degrees sure would melt the ice dams fast.
 
I just turn the unloader to the lowest setting, 300 psi, turn the dial on the burner up to 300 and pull the nozzle out of the gun. Granted my burner is 890,000 btu's and so it creates lots of heat, but you can do this with your equipment. You could probably even use a small electric pump for your supply and let the burner do the rest. I don't do ice dams as they are not typically a major issue here, but I have been steaming out many other things full of ice that can't have pressure put or they could be wrecked.

Had to steam out 480v non live electrical cables from a foot of ice earlier this week. Pressure would have wrecked the cables, steam allowed me to melt the ice and protect the cables even though I couldn't always tell how close I was to them. Make sure your hoses and wash gun can take the heat, don't cheap out on these you will regret it later.
