The other night we cleaned a garfields that was about two months old
I was inside cleaning the hood and a couple guys with me were cleaning the filters outside.. Big problem was I left early and the next day I got the call.
It seems the filters were washed on a brand new concrete pad ... Now i got to clean the concrete pad and make it look like new again.. Not only that but the owner says that I got grease on the whole dumpster pad which is a lie.. but guess what I got to clean it.. Some of the grease is filter grease and some of it is oil from the BFI truck or something...

Then I have to wash all the mud off of the asphalt..

I called Rodger at Carolina pressure wash and he told me some stuff to try ..

I think from now on I will wash the filters on the road... or hang them in a tree.. The two guys that were with me well they didnt know any better..

Also as fate would have it JT quit and moved to Hattisburg.. Oh well .. Now its just me , Peter and My wife.. and Two Kids out of school for the summer..

I think I am going to get into the Gentlemans Club Business.. Hire some girls .. sit back and drink beer all night long..
Ok Im kidding..
I really enjoy sweating , getting greasy, getting dirty , and the smell of caustic in the morning....
 
John,Why not set up containment for your guys to wash filters in?It will save you return calls,plus the EPA is gonna make down south one of these years.Better to be ahead of them than playing catch up..
 
I wonder what would be the problem in washing the filters by the drain ... Nobody will ever know..... OOpss I have said to much......

Oh ... I just can't believe this happened... Last week I wasn't too busy.. But this week I have like 6 more jobs .. and now every day I got to go out to garfields and keep washing the damn parking lot just to get my $ 600.00 hood cleaning check.. I think I am going to go and take a nap... This SUX SUX SUX>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
 
John - water containmant for your filter washing is not that hard.You could go to a farm supply store and buy one of those open top black drinking troughs,they are rectangular and about 2 feet deep.You put some wheels on the bottom,some grate inside to suspend the filters,and a drain fitting to empty the waste water into the grease trap when your done.Its cheap insurance for a steep fine,or a call back like you stated in our post.
 
You would need to be uphill from your drain. This would not be possible at a lot of places, unless you were indoors. Maybe a submursible pump.....now you've got me thinkin'.
 
Ok 6 hours later and alot of oxalic acid I finally got it done .. I will post a pic as soon as i CAN STAND UP. AND WALK DOWN TO MY TRUCK.. I left the camera..

I am go ing to call afarm supply company and price a black trough....

One thing I Discovered is ... Washing grease off of asphalt is a major pain in the ass..
you can't tell wether its clean or dirty until it dries and everytime asphalt dries it looks like crap.. plus it keeps getting lighter and lighter...

Well I will be back later with the pic I got to take a nap... Big Job Tonight ..( an all nighter)
 
Next you'll have to re pave the lot because you washed all the tar out of the pavement. :D
 
I hope not .. I am going to drive by there in the morning .. I think it's supposed to rain.. Grab my check and GTF out of there...

Damn 1 screw up in 14 years not to bad... I always knew that I would make a mistake one day...

Ok here is what I did .. I ran the surface cleaner over the asphalt.. It worked pretty good.. I only really used oxalic acid on the concrete dumpster pad.. That stuff works...
 
Nope, that goes in the lost tools column. I bet you've lost tools more than once. ;)
 
I have lost so many tools.. But mostly they get stolen by bums.. I once was inside a restaurant cleaning up and had 50 ft of hose and a wand stolen. This was the worst..

But the crazyest one was when we were installing a fire system .. Someone stole my dewalt extra battery and Charger in the case But left the drill that was setting right next to the case... Go figure...
 
I feel your pain John,I just had a low life piece of S*$# steal my Western plow pump off of my plow truck,and broke into my cube van,and stole the stereo,and cb radio,and tried to shift the auto tranny into neutral to roll it forward to steal the equipment in the back(it was backed up to a wall).They were in a fenced in yard with a locked gate.The funny thing is they are in the country,I was more careful when I lived in NJ,but it seems some hillbillys will rob you just as fast as some city kid.I have a few friends who live in the country who have had a few atv,s and tools stolen from their propertys.I guess there are thieves everywhere.I would love for them to try the same thing at my house,it would definately make the evening news!
