sparks seem to like the bird, Im not much of a hunter but i did get one a couple of weeks ago with my tahoe. broke my dang marker light.

I was 21 when I got this 8 pointer in Northern WI. The actual rifle I used was an SKS open sight at about 80 yards. Got him while he was trotting at a pretty quick pace.. found an opening and that was the end. All together this was about the 15th deer I've gotten... many were with a bow though.

Just got this really nice buck Sunday with my cross bow. Been trying for almost 20 years to get one with a bow. 8pointwithbow.jpgBow8point.jpgThe left rear tine was almost 8 inches long. He had a real nice basket rack and weighed 163 lbs.
 
Very nice mass on that rack. I notice in PA the deer are lighter body weight but have heavier antlers then those here in GA. We can have some hoss of a buck and have small thin racks. I should have quoted the Roof Cleaners post I was talking about. This is about the buck just above my post with the 22 inch spred.
 
The only thing I find wrong with how Clayton King (the 10 point KY video) was hunting was that he was only trophy hunting and did not try to harvest that buck in a timely manner and lost the meat to spoilage and almost the entire deer to buzzards. There was no reason to pull out and wait until morning to look for that deer. He had pleanty of light left and he could have always used lanterns or blood lights to track him. He never said how far it was from hit to fall for the buck. Yes it was a very low chest shot but I would have tried immediatly to see if he was just wounded and was up to running (then I would have backed off for an hour or so) or was hit well enough to pass quickly.

Soap911 That buck only dressed out at 145lbs. It was 3 1/2 years old. It was shot at my fathers 2 acre property in a heavily developed area. We have a game camera out there and routinely we have a 4 to 1 buck ratio. I have never seen so many bucks in one location as I have in his place. It is almost rare that we see a doe in the pictures. I have so many pictures of bucks fighting that it looks like a national geographic photo shoot. I shot an 8 pointer there 2 years ago that had a smaller spread but dressed out at 190lbs. It was a beast and is hanging on my wall right now :)
