How many feet of hose?

I was told by Envirospec that you can run 22gpm thru a 3/8" hose with no problem. So I went out and bought 5 grey non marking hoses 100' in length and I got the 6th one free. I couldn't pass up on the deal. These hoses went for about $75 a piece. I also bought a few other items from them just recently as this was an end of season sale. I got slammed with the shipping $110 for this but still the price was cheap and since we go threw quite a few hoses a year(300-500') worth this was a good deal for us.

I am going to have to check the psi lost at lets say 300' of this 3/8 hose compared to 300 of 1/2 hose and the heat difference. I can't see there being any difference except that the 1/2 hose is just more durable and a heck of alot more heavier.

1/2 inch hose is for the heavy duty commercial work. 3/8 does not hold up under constant heat and pressure. I can only say this because I have alot of experiances with hose burst under pressure. I almost never burst anymore hoses with 1/2 inch, yes it's heavier but I run these hoses down to the bare wire then they go to the dumpster, still able to hold pressure but not good on the hands on the roll up.:yikes:

Yup we do that to. I have both set of hoses and since we do alot of Residential 3/8 hose is so much easier to handle and since most of our residential we do with our small cold water washers that hose works great.

We also use either 1/2 or 3/8 hose when doing commercial and yup we do blow a couple of hoses a year and we also have some that have the rubber perfurated and the wire is sticking thru where they still work good but there a mother on the hands where you can get cut by a stray wire real easy. These hoses I throw out and I no longer get any type of hose fixed. Even if its a day old and the end burst then I count it as a loss and throw it out. Over the years I had to many crimped hoses burst and those are the scariest kinds of burst.

So I alway look for 1/2 or 3/8 inch grey hose on sale and buy a bunch even if at that time I don't need it cause sooner or later I most definitely will.

Long story short we did a huge job a few years ago I ran out of hose. We had maybe at most 200'. I was in such desperation to get more hose like another 1000' that I had to have it shipped asap. The shipping for that alone that time was like $700. The job was such a money maker and Had to be done forthwith that I had to do that....and I learned from that...never ever be short on hose again.
 
For years I ran 100ft on all machines and then recently went to 200ft hoses and OMG i love it. I dont have to move my truck every 20 min around the yard. I can also leave it turned off now saving fuel.. Ive been doing this for so long that I got so stuck in my ways I wouldnt change to a longer hose. Now I feel like a dummy.
 
have 300' on both reels carry a extra 300 on truck when needed

Its a great deal more loss with 3/8" and high flow, you maybe in for a surprise.
