How can Canadians choose the right phone plan for everyday use?

I’m reviewing my current telecommunications plan because my monthly bill has gradually increased, and I’m not sure whether I’m still getting good value. My needs are pretty simple: regular calls, messaging, navigation, video calls, and some streaming while commuting. When comparing providers, what details should people pay attention to besides the advertised price, especially regarding coverage, data allowances, roaming, contract terms, and additional fees?

I’d compare plans based on actual monthly usage rather than the largest package available. Check how much data you really consume, whether unused data rolls over, and what happens after reaching the limit. I’d also review roaming costs if you travel occasionally. Coverage in your neighborhood matters more than a national advertising slogan.

My approach is to make a simple comparison sheet before changing anything. I include monthly cost after promotions, data allowance, international calling, roaming rates, device payments, and cancellation terms. I also search for coverage feedback from people living in similar areas, because buildings and commuting routes can affect reception. When I needed to verify a provider contact detail, I also searched for the Bell Canada phone number separately rather than assuming every online listing was current.
