House washing/ flyers

Is there any specific time of the year that home owners want to get there house washed. like spring,summer,fall? I live in Ohio. When would be a good time of the year to pass out door hangers?
 
In my neck of the woods, homeowners tend to call around April or May. Watch the weather for the first warm weekend. That's when people hit the decks and patios for cook outs.
 
do you pass out door flyers or whats the most affective way to get your name out there
 
We just started doing some residential as we do each year around the holidays. This flyer as of 9/1/2010 has generated 14.5k. We began throwing them out 8/25/2010. We will throw 4-6k of these a week for the next month or so, and hope for a good % of closings. While we are a commercial company we use this time of the Yard to bulster us up. Here in Florida we have the snowbird season, the time when the northerners come down to the nice sunny weather. We get our hands on some databases that show ownership verse actual mailing address and can take a good shot at who is full time VS part timers, and it is the part timers that have big time northern money and want their vacation homes spruced up. I got this idea from a residential contractor friend of mine a few years ago, nd it is a gold mine. 2 or 3 months of almost ALL CASH!!

Good luck with your venture, it is sometimes a hit and miss sorta thing, but keep at it, research your target customers and you will succeed. IF you get your hands on some raw data learn to interpret it into solid leads, then merge that data in a program like streets and trips, load up the car and it will effectively map you a good route and point out the data points you downloaded for potential customers, very effective.
