Hoses Getting Holes In Them -- Why???

With this said, should one only choose wrapped hoses and not smooth ones? Are there any advantages to the smooth hoses?

Wrapped hoses have a rough cover, if you do a lot of Residential work, be careful dragging these hoses in porch areas, and around painted colums. The cover will take the paint off (Like sandpaper) anything it rubs against.

The smooth can do this to but not as bad. The smooth cover is easier on the hands when rolling up. Smooth cover also wears quicker, than wrapped.

I started out with smooth, but now use wrapped 2 wire, just lasts longer.

Pin hole is a defective hose, I was told by Goodyear, they replaced 1000 ft of it an half of the replacement hose got pin holes also. I have not had good luck with Good Year Neptune. I think they have cut the quality on many companies hoses. I know a lot of people blowing hoses. I use 2 wire i bought from Espec last year, that has held up good, but it was end of stock. I also buy a 2 wire blue from bob that holds up pretty well also,

Espec 2 wire hose was good and lasted almost a year of flatwork on each 300ft section. No problem with those hoses at all, the weight was the problem once you get 300ft stretched out. If your listening Paul, the old 2wire 5800psi hose in 300ft sections were really nice to have!!!

I just blew another one of those Spray Flex blue 4000 psi blue hoses yesterday cleaning a house. Another pin hole 30 feet from the end that got bigger as the day went on...Unbelievable! Still don't know what causes the pin holes. After just 3 short months of moderate use too! I am now short of hose for this weekend's high school cleaning project as I will have to move my rig much more than I should have too.

about weight. Has anybody tried running 1/2 and 3/8 together? Example 200' of 1/2 and 3/8 the last 100'.

Get it repaired...a few bucks beats the hell out of moving the rig multiple times - that will cost you more time and money then the cost of a splice job. Find a local hose supply house and they can fix you right up. This is not the ideal solution but if you have a big job and don;t want to drop coin on a new section it should get you through the weekend. Obviously thoses hoses have an issue, who did you buy them from? Talk to them and let them know.
