hey Cali Guys, this might be a stupid question

I'm am willing to bet a coastal city like Santa Monica has designated recycle day. Call the city and ask for a blue can. Or if you would like a few pennies back on your dollar, next time your at the grocery store take a drive behind the building. Not all but some have have a guy sitting in a big metal shipping container that you could sell them too.

I think when things evaporate they cool down, so if air is really humid the ice melts but doesn't evaporate so it just gets warmer and melts more.

You're making it too complicated. Everyone knows that it is just flat out hotter here than it is out there... regardless of what the thermometer says.
