Thank You!

are they pavers with sand? or just set into some other mix

I dont think there was sand between them. I didn't pay good attention to that detail :(. What would be the solution and pricing either way in your opinion?
I need to send some answer by tomorrow :(..
I was thinking to ask $450-500. I really want that job.

The job doesn't look too hard to me (I might be wrong). I want to put some more commercial PW jobs on our resume, so if I have to be honest I would even do the job for free.

Don't start out low just to get the job. That price is a little low to me but what every works for you. It is going to be hard to go up in price if you are known as the low guy on the block

Exactly Chad, I was going to let you know that price is not everything especially to a PM. If they respect your company and what you services bring to them and value it then there will be no problems getting 750-900 for the service. Anywhere in there and your going to turn a profit more than likely. Don't let these Pm's fool you they have the remainder of their budgets to spend at this point and can pull the trigger on alot of work if your ready to take it on

If you want to just do it, then do it for free but this guy is going to remember that. Next time he will question your price or want a discount, and he will tell his friends how you just want to work and do it cheap. Set a price like you do for your sweeping and go with it. You had to start with you sweeping business, right? You didn't go out and just clean for free did you?

You asked and I told you a relistic price of $850.00 if your willing to do it for half price or even free because your afraid to lose the job well I cant help you with that. Just remember that the price you give them will follow you, and by the way if i worried about every job I didnt get, I would have no time to do anything but worry!!:dirol:

If the job is going to blossom into something unbelievable then I would probably do it for free. I think charging a cheap price will actually hurt you in the long run because it will be expected from you each time. It may sound crazy but I have gotten good paying jobs because of it.

I think the sand situation is an important detail!!

I've done a lot of pavers recently, both sanded and 'cemented' in... there will always be a lot of dirt, dust and sand that washes out of the cracks. I was called to one job which was a 'one-off' for the contractor before me, they had blown all the sand out with a surface cleaner, realized what they had done and didn't finish the canopies, columns and storefronts.

You could be spending a lot of time rinsing... you would be doing yourself a favor by not pricing just to 'get the job', educate your customer and sell yourself for their true value. Do a good job, your customer now knows the true value of our service... every little helps.

There's a guy on here called Terry who owns a sweeping company, he added pressure washing services to his service proision - by all accounts he sold on the quality and value of his work and from what I can gather from his posts is going from strength to strength.

PM's will take advantage of freebies and low pricing, unless there is an existing relationship or this was a referral I doubt you'll get any loyalty.

Good Luck, hope it works out.

Hey Steve, are you back on track with the burner issue. Hope all is well :wave3:

Hey Nick

Yeah, had it burning up gum and cleaning concrete all last night - it burned rich a couple of times, but other than that it's all good.

I stripped it apart and cleaned the coil, there was some insulation lying inside it... Ordered a new nozzle and fuel filter.

Any feedback on your bids yet, I'm still waiting. Hope things are good with you buddy.

Fox, is this job to try and get in with the PM or for your portfolio?

you could have said that one a million times, man those thing are a MESS!

I have done several of those this week and they are always a huge mess, even on a scheduled cleaning they still get filthy.

It has actually started to pick up for us this week so hopefully it keeps up or I will have to go to work for Larry and he only pays in $1 menu burger's

Down here the pavers are not that popular and that is ok with me. The sand blows out and they are filled with tons of dirt and takes forever to rinse.

The sand question is a good one and could make or break the job, I would ask them before pricing.

The best way I have found to rinse paver's is to use a ball valve and 8gpm. Close the valve until you get a good flow then have at it.

Thank you Nick for making this point.

I can understand doing a small 'demo' area to show your prospect your abilities... but giving away the entire job ???

Fox, if you really want this job, Nick gave you an excellent 'price point'... try something slightly less like $825 or so...

I wouldn't take pricing advise like this from an experienced contractor and cut it in half... it's not doing justice to you, or our industry...

Just my .02
