David, testing pressure at your pump head is not hard. Does the gauge have a q.c. and plug on it? That will make it easier so you can take it on and off.
Snap it on the output of the pump and see what it reads with the machine running and the gun closed.
Then you can set the pressure from there.
Here is a picture of my pump as I see no easy way to attach anything to it. I have 2 pressure gauges -- one screwed into a quick-connect and plug and one gauge by itself. The one screwed into quick connects is how I have been testing at the wand.
Here is another question: See the 90' elbow coming out of the pump then up into the unloader? It goes into a reducing bushing before going into unloader. I have blown 4 of these reducing bushings since I installed the unloader a year ago. Can I get an elbow (assume 3/8" to 1/2") somewhere so I don't have to keep blowing reducing bushings every 3 months? Yes, even the stainless steel ones as you can see I had to install a brand new one a couple of weeks ago after another one blew and sprayed water all over my Vanguard! Thanks.
