Help - Engine Wont Start

Hey guys - So today out of the blue the engine wont start on our Landa Skid Model PGHW3500. Nate changed the oil, fuel filters, air filter and spark plugs. Its getting fuel and spark, I checked both the wires and the plugs. It has a brand new battery. Its trying to start it just wont turn over....

PLEASE HELP!!! The landa dealer that we take it too is too high priced and usually causes more problems with our Machine, they have bad techs. The other place cant get it in until next week.

I have to get it running TONIGHT

HELP

Was it running before Nate did a tune up?

Grant:No he did the service on it today, after he realized that it was not starting.

Cajun: Not sure about the fuel valve, but it sat overnight in the garage last night. It just wouldnt start today. Also if that was the case, it should have happened before now..

Check your wire(s) on your engine cut-off switch, make sure your connections are good, could have bumped one loose.

If it is shorted out it will kill your spark

contaminated fuel? vapro lock, Gas Cap on take, fuel pump, the list can go on and on.

spray some starting fluid directly into the carb, if she fires then its not getting fuel. Buy a 3 dollar clear fuel filter and watch the fuel flowing.

The fuel may still pump into the filter but not by it.

The lines from the tank may be obstructed. Stuff shifts in trailer and may be pinching the line.

1. I already did the vapor lock scenario - took the cap off...nothing
2. We have a clear filter and can see the fuel
3. Plugs are wet
4. Dried plugs and put back in
5. Checked the gap in the plugs - replaced w. new plugs - gapped correctly
6. Tested plug wire with test like, thats okay
7. Tested plug against ground and we are getting spark

are you able to spin the engine by hand?

Nicole, what engine are you dealing with? If it's Vanguard, find the wire attached to the low oil shut off and disconnect (double check your oil level first) and see if it'll run. Any chance at all of the wrong fuel going in the tank?

Just reread the above post...if the low oil switch were bad, you wouldn't get a spark...

If it wasn't fuel on the plugs and you are getting spark, but the engine is NOT starting, I have another scenario. Kohler engines have a fuel cut off switch, located by the carb. A friend of mine described similar problems last week, and that's what caused his problems.

Take the belt guard off and remove the spark plug wires to be safe.

Grab the motor's pulley and turn it by hand and see if it turns, there could be an obstruction keeping the engine from turning or maybe the pump.

It it turns at all, then there is no blockage, just fuel or ignition.

It it does turn over, spin it without the spark plugs to get all the fuel out and try with dry plugs.

Check the fuel filter, there are a few sizes for gas engines, make sure it is not too small and pointing the right way.
