Help Adjusting a new Unloader

I need to adjust a new unloader on a 2500psi/5.6GPM unit. I will be using a pressure gauge to do this.
I want to make sure I'm doing this right.
Do I pull the trigger as I make the adjustment?
Do I bring the pressure to 2500psi while the trigger is engaged? Or is the 2500psi when the trigger is not engaged?
Also, what tip should I use when doing the adjustment?
Sorry for all the rookie questions.

I would use a #7 15, 25 or 40 degree tip when adjusting the unloader. You want to have the trigger pulled on the gun when doing this. When you release the gun the pressure shouldn't spike to more than 3000 psi. When the trigger isn't engaged you should have 0 PSI going through it. If you do, then something is wrong with the unloader or you have something plumbed wrong.

I got it to 2300 psi on trigger and 2700 psi off trigger. It won't adjust any further. It's turned down all the way.
I don't have a #7 tip. I have a #65 tip. That's what I used for my adjustment.
 
I told you what to do on facebook. If you can't screw down the unloader anymore, you have hit the locking screws put on there to prevent you from overtightening. Take the black knob off, remove the spring and lower the locking nuts a few turns. I looked it up and with 50 feet of hose you lose 75 psi. So you are only 125 psi off. If you use the 65 tip to adjust the unloader you can hit 2500 but you will bypass flow. It will also be off when you get #7 tips which are the ones that belong with that machine. and you will have to adjust it again. I have the same machine. if by chance you are at the lowest point you can turn the unloader, then either the gauge is bad, which is entirely possible, or the unloader is bad. I know that the working pressure on that machine is 2500 psi. I get about 5 minutes out of those northern tool gauges before they start sticking and are no good.
