Hello need little help.

I need to ask you guy’s question. Today I received call from customer she asked if you use bleach or chlorine I told her yes. She went on to tell me that it is not good for the environment and it damages the paint on the house. Ok I know that it can kill plants and grass if you use at full strength but I do not know what kind harm chlorine can can do to house. Is there another product that can be used to kill mold with out harming the environment.

She did not let me get that fare Mike but tried to explain to her that chlorine is the only thing I know what kills mold being in Florida we have alot of it.

I think its a blessing that you did not get the job. If by chance you would have convinced her to do the job anyways she would try to hold you liable for any plant dying or the paint degrading for the next 5 years.

Florin I see hiring some one that is going to use high pressure to remove the mold there going her paint. The funny thing almost ever house in central florida lost most of there plants or the plants almost died a month will tell how the plants will do in my erea.

I certainly wouldn't take her word it's bad for the environment. It's used to purify drinking water in most city water systems. I'd ask her on what she bases that statement.

There are nuts that claim antibiotics are horrible too. They are way overused but millions used to die yearly over simple infections and viruses before their development.

Our just tell her using the new and improved environmentally safe bleach invented by Al Gore.

Some nuts you just have to pass on.

Chris you have been around awhile now, and this is what your stuck on? Come on man this is newbie stuff. If you cant answer that question then honestly you should not be P/W. Really !!

Chris, the next time someone says something like that just let them know that you know for a fact that the bleach will not damage vinyl siding and you know how to properly clean using bleach so that it will not damage paint or other surfaces.

Let them know that Bleach is used to purify our drinking water, most people use it to clean their white clothes, restaurants use it to sanitize their dishes and cooking utencils, etc...

Tell them that there is a possibility that the bleach can burn the grass and leaves on the plants but you are very careful and will water a lot before, during and after the job to take extra care just for them.

I know it is too late for this customer but remember this stuff for next time and you will be ok.

maybe I misunderstood you but the way you first brought it up Chris as an environmental issue was what I was referring to, to answer the question yes bleach has issues but it does degrade rather quickly so its long term effects are minimal in the amounts we use, the more water we rinse with the more diluted it becomes, if she is very conscious about it or if it comes up ever again rather than getting into a pissing match with the tell them you use a propritary blended mix that contains diluted sodium hypochlorite (which is a chemical compound found in bleach) and whan the job is finished that you will neutralize the ph. (you can achieve this by downstreaming a little citric acid solution). The ground is acidic and this wont hurt the plants.

I don't know anything about this, but you can check it out.

Mark, why would you attempt to pass on info that you don't know anything about? Reckless advice...

Chris, if someone has an issue with your methods or detergents, just walk away. Trying to change someones mind about whether something is safe or not, is just setting yourself up for problems and callbacks. As soon as one plant dies (and it could be months after you've been there) you'll be on the hook for it. Don't risk your company's reputation on someone who's looking to burn you!!
