Health effects of outdoor air pollution and environmental contaminants....

We were discussing this in another thread and I thought it would be better to discuss it under it's own topic. It may have been I who brought it up about the health effects of outdoor contaminants. I shared a small amount of info about my experience, opinion and beliefs based on facts and/or professional opinions.

My whole life has been a battle against asthma, allergies and infections all in the sinuses, ears and throat areas. You guys in the dry climates may not have any trouble with this. Here in Tennessee right now, there is probably a waiting line in most clinics with people having these issues.

The question is not about roof allergies, but about all contaminants as a whole. Because when you clean a roof, you are not only removing the roof algae, but also other contaminants as well. The roof algae may be harboring other bacteria or could be harmful in itself to some people for all I know.

This why we have a discussion. TO root out possibilities and share opinions. If you have a different opinion please share it as an opinion. If you bash some one and call them a liar you are only exposing yourself to everyone else as such. Keep doing it if you want, you are only hurting yourself and making me feel sorry for you.

My life has been totally altered as a result of allergies and what as a child just seemed normal to me. When I missed school it was for several weeks and I spent it in the bed wheezing, painfully coughing and literally struggling to breath, not playing video games like some kids today. When I could finally go back to school, I was still not 100%, but loaded with make-up work. Getting a good education was practically hopeless for me, but today I do the best that I can to learn. Actually putting it into words seems so sad, because I never looked back on it until now.

If you live in an area where you get a lot of rain and humidity, stuff grows. Some people have a tolerance for it and others do not. The older you get and the more exposed you are to contaminants, the more allergic you can become. Anyone clean-out gutters? Were not just talking roof cleaning here. Gutters can become as toxic as a sewer and this stuff gets into the air we breath. I would rather it live on trees in the wood or in the yard, but not on my house, my concrete, child's playground or in my house.

I am sensitive to this and it is meaningless to a lot of people, but there are people out there who suffer. Cleaning your home's exterior has many benefits. Mostly you don't have to look like trashy neighbors, but some people are hoping for other benefits. It won't cure you and may not help your condition directly. A doctor will tell you things to do to minimize your exposure and exterior cleaning will help do that.

I grew out of my asthma and just deal with chronic sinus and head cold type of stuff which I get some relief with behind the counter stuff. They treat me like a drug dealer and perform a strip search when I go to buy it. We have pollen fall on everything here in the Springtime and it creates a green hue on everything. People in the mid-west may never see it. Maybe I will move there some day.

I heard on the radio this morning, the doctors are busy treating tree allergies right now in Tennessee. They say it is earlier this year. I found something here that states "anything is an allergen". Including bacteria which is what roof algae is.

Some guys were accusing non mentioned entities of scare tactics. These are not scare tactics. People who have allergies already know this stuff.
