Gutters

Ok fellas what is the beat thing to use on tough black streaks on gutters? I can lighten them up but not remove them.

super-strong.. butyl (or d-Limonene) and Caustic Soda

More Heat !!
..with butyl (or d-Limonene) and Caustic Soda..
super-strong, mixed with very little, very very hot water,
brushed-on,
scrubbed in,
DON'T breathe the fumes,
and reclaim, reclaim, reclaim.

Hey..
Do you guys charge for this kind of "super-special-effort" ??
..as an add-on ??
I certainly would.
and get a signed disclaimer too !

Get paid for EVERY effort. Eh?

One time when we stored the grenade somehow it spilled onto a car in the garage that we were storing and did not know until a few months later when the clear coat was eaten off and left a matte finish lol.

O.K.

I thought you were talkin street-gutters. :yikes:

.. I think I'll stick with the equipment questions. :slap:

I like Gutter Grenade because it takes the black streaks off but won't take off any paint because it only removes the oxidized finish.
Anything else I have tried tends to take the paint with the streaks. Mix it a little too strong and you're painting gutters for free.

Like I said. The grenade was on the vehicle for a few months and it only removed the clear coating and not the paint. Of coarse it was not brushed or waiped during that time period, but still shows theres more of a window than other cleaners. I tried simple green before and it was a wasted trip to the store. I would use Ace Aluminum brite before simple green, but its all relative to each user I suppose.

I'll add one vote to F-13 from Pressure Tek. They are right about not mixing it too strong. I have painted about a 10ft section of gutter because it was too strong. Mix it right and it works great. Mix it weaker and brush it though. Better safe then sorry.

So what kind of ratio works the best for you Daniel? Bob's site talks about 50/1, 20/1 etc. I'd hate to repaint haha.

I've been using Simple Green daily for years, so I know it works. There are versions that are sold pre-mixed. You must use the concentrate. FYI, nothing I am aware of works very well when the temps drop below about 60.

20/1 works good around here. Each gutter is a little different and they will vary from my location to yours. I'd start as low as you can and work up from there. Sometimes, putting about 8-12 oz in my 5er of soap is enough when I soap the gutter, then brush it.

As for haz-mat stuff, F-13 is not DOT regulated so shipping isn't a problem. It says so on the bucket I bought. ;)
