Gum Shadows - Ron Marshal Posts

I posted a question about gum shadows a few weeks ago and Caustic soda was the answer I recieved. The only other way I see to remove gum shadows is to steam them off. I looked at steamers that will do the job but will the customer pay the extra $$ to have the work done?
 
I doubt customers will pay you enough to offset the slow steamer cost.
 
If its a one time thing and you have them on a contract for cleaning on a regular basis it may work. You have to figure the gum wont build to where it originally was in the first place.

You have to think if you went into a customer and told them you could get rid of the gum forever it would sure give them something to think about.

I looked into the steamer and there are a few out there that will do the job and do it fast.

Dude go ahead and buy the Gum Buster, I do not think you will get rich ..plus you have to buy the chemical from them...I am not saying it wont work but I think the ROI is just not there. I have a gum phobia after a job I bgd thought would take me 6 Hours Took me 15. I STILL have gum on my surface cleaner 3 months later.
 
Good point. I guess if it was true someone else would be doing it.
 
We had this issue out in Ft Laurderdale FL, We had gum there that was probably 10/ 15 years old. When we got done with the first cleaning, we started to put a light coating of Love on the walks at night, and the sidewalks are now free of any shadows.

I know you are looking for a safer product to do this job, but if you just put a very light mist of love on it, it will do the job real well, plus it will get rid of any organic stains as well.
 
good idea, I have some 10% in the truck, I will use that tonight on a new property im starting. They have been open only a few months and have quite a few stains. This property is owned by a guy that ownes a PM company as well so anything i can do to aid the look will help. I have tried straight 6% and had no luck. 12.5% here if you can get it is about 5.50 per gallon and is only sold in 55 drums
 
I am going to use a small pump up here in a while, is it alright to just hit the ghosts or is it better to do the entire area? The property is really new and I will have to use extremely low pressure in this situation to clean it were talking low. I will be cracking the ball valve almost all the way closed to remove gum to ensure the cream coat is not damaged. I have been calling out the local companies in my marketing lately especially on the damage they are leaving behind
