Good To be Back!

I know most of you didn't miss me much, but I haven't posted in quite a while. I had Log On problems that just would not go away. Anyway, things seem to be working, and I wanted to tell you I'm glad to be back.

So now I have Facebook, Twitter, the Sun Brite newsletter, and this board to post to. Not much time left after all that, but that is life these days.

I have also been keeping pretty busy with product tests and equipment tweaks. It gets me away from the desk. We're getting ready for our RT at the end of the month, too.

Wait! Is that more than 140 characters?

Pete, glad you are back! How can we read the Sun Brite newsletter? Is there a link or can we sign up via email?

Dang it...now I am going to have to watch what I post again...oh well. :)

Guy...you had better be here! I can't have a roundtable without you! And PLEASE bring your corn hole game if you come. We'll have plenty of room to play!

Corn Hole==Now thats funny. Yea Guy don't forget your corn hole..lol man they would have a field day with that in the Village in NYC. Guy could cause a whole new catch phrase in that area..lol That game there must be fun especially if there is some ice cold beer involved:thumbup2:

Hey Pete if you catch this and no its not my Corn Hole.... Maybe a quick article of what you would consider to be the best way to be compliant when it comes to Commercial cleaning and the cheapest but still acceptable way to be compliant. I read your articles and if you wrote about this I may have missed it but its sure the hot topic for the moment. I would also add into your articles what you sell for each method you write about such as the Sirocco units for close loop systems down to berms and drain covers etc.

I always liked your thoughts because you also IMHO would fall into the expert field when it comes to this. So say something or say Nothing at all..My guess is you have something to say and it will be incitefull. Becareful getting Corn Holed in the Corn hole game:grin:

Thanks for the compliment, John. I will be sending out a newsletter later today and will include some comments about the Houston situation in that. You are giving me a great opportunity to turn on the salesman in me, which I will not take advatage of. Thanks, but I always want to advise without trying to sell in this forum.

I have spoken to a lot of groups, telling them that Contractors can be compliant with a minimum investment. Of course a simple set up won't work for high volume or certain job conditions, but many times you can work with a drain cover, some berms like Sand Snakes, some oil socks, and a good sump pump. Divert the water (with berms) to the storm drain area (naturally the lowest point) and block anything from going down that drain with the drain cover. Make sure the water passed through some oil socks on the way to that pool. Use the sump pump to suck the water from the pool and send it to an absorbent area of soil on the same property (or a sanitary drain) and you are compliant (in most areas).

Last time I priced all this stuff, it came out to around $500 or so. Simple and effective and affordable - but hardly automatic. Pretty manual system as a matter of fact.

As far as the best, you can't beat a fully automatic vacuum system with a bank of filters and an Oil-Water separator. That's the standard for high-volume cleaning. There are a lot of in-between steps in equipment, so picking a system is mostly about understanding your work environment and working with your supplier to find the optimum set-up for you. Any supplier can hit your budget point, but working with a supplier who really understands your needs and points you to the right system is the smartest approach.
